Sorry, I should say it's possibly wrong. There is nothing indicating that scores are doubled to give everyone 4 scores. In fact, DCI's article is very UNCLEAR exactly how they're handling those that participated in 2 vs 1 show in the Southeast. For Allentown, they averaged Atlanta/NightBEAT for those that did both. For those that only did one or the other, the only use the single score. For Prelims, it's unclear if they will be using the averaged Atlanta/NightBEAT score used for Allentown; average of 4 for those that did all 4 and average of 3 that only did 3; or double the Atlanta/NightBEAT score for those that only did one.

i don't remember seeing 3 corps within 0.15 of each other.  I'm sure it's happened, but I don't remember it lol. Wild.

read the explanation. if they were not in an event like W/S they were to use the score for the show just prior, which was Atlanta.

Order of appearance at the DCI World Championship Prelims (August 10 in Indianapolis) will be based on the reverse order of finish of scores averaged from events in San Antonio, Atlanta, Winston-Salem, and Allentown. Open Class participants will be seeded in the first blocks of performing corps based on reverse order of finish from Open Class Championship events. In the event a corps is not scheduled to appear in a major regional event, their last score received prior to that regional event will be used for averaging purposes.

But that sentence traditionally has referred to corps not participating AT ALL in a region, like Jersey Surf not going to San Antonio. It's new as of 2022 that Atlanta isn't an all-corps regional, so the wording needs to be clarified.

My interpretation is that only 3 scores are averaged for each corps.

If corps A only attended Atlanta that is one of the 3 scores.

If corps B attended Atlanta AND Winston-Salem then those 2 would be averaged and that number would be one of the 3 for seeding (along with San Antonio and Allentown).

If corps C attended Winston-Salem only then that would be 1 of the 3 averaged scores.

If corps D attended Nightbeat and Atlanta then those 2 scores would be averaged to provide one of the 3 for seeding.
