Here's a random, undeveloped thought to add (an possibly split into a separate, more filled-out proposal):

So, the goal is to get more kids to march. And a lot of people have pointed out that, while increasing the limit to 150 could get 15 more kids to march for some corps, there's still a lot of corps that can't even get 135 yet. So, being as:

...The big-name top-tier corps seem to be having this problem where they turn away kids that don't go march someplace else.

...There are corps that struggle to even get the minimum 30, much less worry about turning kids away because their corps is full.

Why not require that, before marching a DivI corps, kids have to march in a DivII/III corps? I know, random thought, and there's a few exceptions that would/could be made (like rook-outs), but it's a possibility for a win/win situation. DivI would still get the talent that they need, and better developed talent at that. The lower division corps would get an influx of members who are eyeing up spots in larger corps later on in their DCI careers, and there's a likelihood that many would want to just stay with their corps instead of "moving up". We'd probably see the return of feeder corps.

I'm sure there's more. But I'm tired. Somebody else take over and develop this...

If this gets passed it'll mean the end of Div II and III. It'd also adversely affect some of the Div I corps.

The end of div. II/III has been on the horizon already. Passing this proposal will just make it arrive sooner :(

Look at the way the DCI BOD is structured. It's just the Big Boys taking care of their own selves. Nothing more. Maybe it's time for a new circuit.

Not a bad thought, if this and other certain props pass.

Gonna say no here...this moves us further towards the "have and have nots", and makes me think this is a harbinger of the "supercorps" idea that was floated by Hop not that long ago.

Between the huge pit in front, the props, etc. I believe 128 is plenty!

I am speaking here as a past Vice Chair of DCM - not as a member or voice of any particular corps...

Won't happen.

There will never be a new alternative circuit for the same reasons DCM will never return as a summer circuit:

Too few corps. Too much costs. Too few dollars. Too few fans. Too far distances.

DCI and DCA are it until the end of this activity as we know it.

This will dilute talent at the lower placing corps. With the top corps having more spots, kids who might have marched a semifinalist may be able to march a finalist corps. If all the top 12 added 15 more kids, that is 180 kids - or enough to populate two good size Div II corps.

Don't you see what this is all about? This isn't about louder corps. This is about adding woodwinds. Hoppy has always wanted them. He knows he needs more people to successfully field them. This has been no secret.

you start putting too many people on the field and it looks crowded or cluttered. the numbers work fine and allow for maximum movement ability.
