Right now, IMO it's all coming down to what their show design will be. I think anything better than the disaster that was 2017 will put them into discussion for the Top 2, or at the very least keep them in the Top 3 or 4. not one of my faves from them but 3rd isnt a disaster

Hopefully something a little stronger and more towards the "Crown identity" since the staff was together over the summer. Even more excited to see CC vs BC play out over the season. The interpretation I got from last year’s show was that they are going in a new direction with show design from now on. I wouldn’t mind at all if they did. I’ve said all too many times that I thought their old show format was getting stale, IMO.

Getting stale...that's something I would never connect with Crown...Their format has brought them high honors. They've also been able to use that format in different show styles. Every year I have no idea what it could be...and yet they still seem to impress and change when it comes time to really clean toward the end of the season. BD uses the same format every year and it's done wonders for them...but each year you expect them to add a bit of jazz, or something that sounds similar that they used the previous year. With Crown, who knows. I'm probably way off base here but that's my IMO.

Is Crown no longer going to participate in ToC? Edited November 30, 2017 by msumello

That being said, TOC is not what it used to be in term of who's in it.

Newseditor44
Report from camp: saw the corps today at Clover HS - looks like another successful weekend. Brass was still in audition mode, with at least 150+ on hand. They played Xmas tunes and parade tunes for the crowd. The guard looked great and performed a routine. You can see there is a bit more experience in this years group. Battery: OH MY GAWD! I’ve been going to Crown camps for 7 years and haven’t seen a battery this talented. They’ve already made their cuts - 9 snares, 5 tenors and 5 bass drums. The drums played a couple pieces for the crowd and jaws were on the floor. If this drum line gets a tasty book, they will be dangerous. The People’s Front Ensemble was on site but not present for show and tell. All in all a great camp, nothing announced to the crowd about possible show themes or music, and obviously no show music introduced yet. That’s it for now.
