Ms. Terri you are certainly not a know it all. I always love reading your post and thoughts. I have learned so much about this activity from you over the years.

A better audio than a previous one done in a city square. Thank you. It never gets tiring listening to this musical book. It will always be a classic to me. And once again, PR has a real conductor.

I miss Plan9. No one could get the ABBD crowd riled up faster than him and I loved every bit of it lol. Surprised there wasn't a bounty on his head lol. But come to think of it he has disappeared............??

This is my surprise of the season. So young, so good. Just amazing.

I am, unfortunately, not into the front ensemble writing. Not sure why they felt the need to change what was already great writing for marimba and xylophone and replace it with this. It’s the only part of the show that I find lacking.

Only on DCP, where most threads with nice intentions end up morphing into “forum behavior”, could a thread on “forum behavior” end up morphing into people being nice to each other. 🙂

We got our tickets today! And they are our usual seats! Section 141, top row, seats 1-4!

It was at the Regal theater on Caughey Drive over by Susquehanna Marketplace. The last couple times, I attended at the AMC theater near the Capital City Mall (where Hill's used to be). But it wasn't there this time.

I was there too (and I can't sleep anyway), so I'll add a little more: It opened with various local ensembles. Those were about what you'd expect, although El Dorado's community band has been in continuous operation for over 100 years. Impressive. Crossmen were doing a camp with local high school band members, so they featured those campers first. The color guard campers did a short number that looked good considering they first learned it earlier that day. The horn and drum campers then took the field with the Crossmen horn and drum lines and played Russian Christmas Music. The campers were kind of drowned out by the Crossmen horn and drum lines. I'm sure that was a bummer if you were the parents of one of those campers, but I got to hear Crossmen play it. Goosebumps! After that, they did a portion of their show. As the original poster said, the theme is chess and each of the 3 pieces relates to some aspect of the game. The opener is Minuano (six-eight) by Pat Metheny. Sorry, I was so geeked by that that I didn't catch the name of the other 2 (and there were no programs given out that I could refer to later). I should mention that they weren't in uniform tonight (just shorts and tshirts). However, they did break out the white aussies! The show they trotted out tonight was very bare-bones (no pun intended; he wasn't there by the way). The flags were all solid color, which I took to mean that they weren't the ones we'll see in Indy. There were no props or anything going on GE-wise other than playing, marching (well, some body movement too), and guard work. In a normal year, I'd say that it just means that we'll see them add stuff later, but this year... As a bonus, they did as an encore a stand-still performance of Birdland. That was a nice bonus for me, considering it was the last piece I ever played with them (it was the closer my age-out year). For anyone else that was there, please add on for anything I missed. This. There have been so few people here the past year or so that a small group of posters have been able to destroy the kind of diversity of opinion that made it valuable in the past by smearing anyone who dared to think differently than them. I am hoping as drum corps’ return brings more people back to the forum with a common interest to discuss it can again be a more open and welcoming environment that treats everyone with dignity and respect.

one must remember Cali has had some of the harshest restrictions out there, and at the time decision for this year needed to truly start being ironed out, we were still in unchartered territory. I am not going to bash a corps what they decided to do or not do this summer. and like Bucs choosing not to do anything for DCA, when its a season with numbers, they'll still be the front runners.

Suncoast's strength was always the brass...and Rob Smith's charts. The 83 opener....yikes!!
