  1. Texting on the CTA is oodles of fun! Rockford, Lisle, Whitewater, DeKalb, Allentown, and Indianapolis Finals night. All typos fixed before pressing submit!
  2. At DCI intermissions next summer, ten lucky audience members should be invited to the turf to toss sevens.
  3. For several years, I received the survey, but not in the last 2 years. There was always a question listing dozens of restaurants, then asking us which ones we visited. Slippery Noodle and Shapiro's were never listed.
  4. I humbly admit that I always skip the Saturday night Finals exhibition by the Open Class champion. Instead, I'm always at the Slippery Noodle relaxing at dinner with good friends.
  5. During Pioneer's light rain-soaked Allentown performance this summer, one of the wet dragon pieces nearly toppled over onto 2 performers during a prop move. The MMs struggled to straighten the drooping piece. This will be the visual memory I carry until the dragon is triumphantly slayed.
  6. Spirit - especially the poignant brass duet Troopers - especially the opening oblique parade block Santa Clara Vanguard - full production The Cadets - especially the forceful kick of the orange goal line marker by an MM at the end of the ballad Music City - especially the muted horn playing Hallelujah Boston Crusaders - full production
  7. The placement of the social media connections atop the Pioneer announcement make me cringe. An F for Facebook, followed by You (tube). Egads.
  8. ST is spring training

  9. I back the Music City performer. Art can inspire, but art can also be uncomfortable. Art can challenge. Art can reveal ugliness. Art can be disappointing. My favorite art creates conversation. This performer's art has certainly created engaging, spirited talk. At SoundSport, the audience was treated to a performance of The Three Little Pigs that had only been thought up 4 days before its SoundSport debut. The program was cute and well played. But the awful news of GH in April has not been easy to quickly forget nor dismiss. I would gladly trade in my Three Little Pigs enjoyment for the Music City performer's convictions.
  10. I cannot help you at this moment. The BEAST is about to be released. posted from the DrumScorps app
  11. SoundSport takes place in Pan Am Plaza in the building on the west side of the plaza. Once the program begins, audiences are let inside the building between each unit. I recommend heading to the bleachers and grabbing a seat. It's great fun seeing these performances up close.
  12. Last year, DCI.org posted the Saturday schedule shortly after midnight on Friday.
  13. Heading to AMC East in Chicago on the #29 bus. posted from the DrumScorps app
  14. I saw Madison perform only once this summer. Good storytelling starts out with a solid opening line, such as Once Upon A Time. It is rare, if ever, that a good story begins with Once Upon A Time, Once Upon A Time, Once Upon A Time, Once Upon A Time. So, I was frustrated with the design from the get go.
  15. The Troopers are in Lebanon at the Boone County 4-H fairgrounds.
