  1. There is a thread for this on page 3 of the forums (at least on mobile).
  2. I think the current system is fine. However, I think three judges on finals week would be most ideal in a perfect world. 1 Field Battery, 1 Field Front Ensemble, and 1 Full Percussion Ensemble Box
  3. Brant just announced that show is being delayed due to lightning. Still hope of BD performing.
  4. BD pit went back in the tunnel. I'm seeing lightning in the skyline.
  5. Tickets to this show are free. Not sure why.
  6. Having marched on that field, I think part of the reason for the dead crowd might be the distance from the field to the stands. There is a massive track between the two and space on either side. A lot of the sound and personal connection gets lost in that area. In 2014 I remember not getting a great vibe from the crowd. That was one of the reasons I love the Mankato, MN show. There isn't even room for a drum major podium, they conduct from the bleachers. Talk about personal.
  7. I'm interested to see the Crossmen, Blue Stars, and Boston meeting up. They were the 12-10th place corps last year and this is the only time the 3 of them will be together for quite a while.
  8. I was thinking these uniforms look a bit layered/poofy in the sleeves, but at a distance I don't think it will be noticeable. I mean, even at the distance of the last photo that layered feel fades a bit. The more I see them the more I like them.
  9. Yep. Sort of like Carolina Crown had with their 2010-2012 uniforms.
  10. I don't know if I necessarily agree with that. Having some similar qualities (the side cape, different sleeve colors, using an undershirt as a visible sleeve) doesn't makes a corps lack identity, in my opinion.Maybe it's because I spent 3 seasons with the Blue Stars, but I feel like they have an identity as much as any other corps.
  11. I really like Phantom's guard uniform. Phantom's corps uniform seems like it needs a fade from the black to the white. It looks kind of harsh without it. Really liking the new Blue Star uniform. It sort of reminds me of Blue Knights mixed with Blue Devils. Hopefully we can get some more pictures of it at different angles.
  12. Here's a clip from their preview show last night in Forrest City, Iowa. https://www.facebook.com/BlueStarsPit/videos/816849901748032/
  13. They posted this video of the percussion section. They play some, talk some, then play some more. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHa_-fBAQW4
  14. Love the new uniforms! They looked and sounded great last night. I'm super excited to see the progress in Minneapolis and eventually Finals.
  15. Blue Stars do. If you click the link on the right side of their main website home page it takes you to this: https://www.cardpartner.com/affinity/app/blue-stars After you use it for the first time the Blue Stars get $50.
  16. I had Will Wells as a tech all three years I marched Stars. He is an amazing, gifted teacher who translates positivity incredibly well. He'll be quite the asset to the organization. I marched with Zack Crissman two years and he teched my ageout year (doing brass and vis duties might I add). He's a no BS kind of guy. Hugely knowledgable and very talented. The Troopers got two great pick ups in my mind.
  17. Does the addition of Ricard Saucedo to the Cavaliers mean he is leaving the Blue Stars? Or is he pulling double duty?
  18. I aged out last year. On some days this summer I wished I could be there on the field, on most days it was pretty obvious that my three years were enough. Life moves on. It's ok to become a proud alumni and fan of the activity.
  19. She sounded flat last night in the theater. Liked the show a lot though.
  20. Thanks so much for the Periscope stream of the Blue Stars! Already so much growth from when I saw them in the theater. Love the show. FCO!
  21. Kuhn- Phantom Regiment (Percussion Caption Head/Arranger) Saucedo- Blue Stars (Brass Arranger/Composer) Casella- I'm not sure if he is currently working with a corps. Fiedler- Santa Clara Vanguard (Director) Zuccala- The Cadets (Administrator/Programming Associate) Gaines- Is not currently on design staff for any corps to my knowledge, maybe he is a behind the scenes consultant.
  22. I was actually thinking the opposite on this one. The grey uniform didn't really "pop" from the box (especially on grass), while the 2014 uniform stood out a bit more, plus it added more blue back into the look. Personally loved the red plume and I hope they continue to use them going forward. My vote for the miss was the 2007 look. Good idea in concept, but going from the iconic cross buckle to the split pants was a bit radical for me.
  23. On a great deal of the high school band director openings I've been looking at I keep seeing the term "Drum Corps Experience Preferred". Not required, but it could give an edge to young teachers with similar experience.
  24. There is actually two founders if I remember right, both marched Blue Stars. One marched 2007?-2010 (drum major in 2010) and other marched 2010-2012.
  25. The Blue Stars absolutely take talented, committed marchers with no experience! I marched Blue Stars with no prior corps experience during the 2012-2014 seasons (before aging out). While it has become more competitive to make the corps, from my general observation, it is very feasible for a member to make it straight out of high school, assuming the effort is there. The Blue Stars are a great organization and provide a life changing experience for all who are will to give it their all. If you have a question about the organization or experience feel free to PM me and of course email the corps. The worst thing you can do is not audition because you are afraid you won't make it, I promise you will leave the camp better than you came in regardless of making it or not. Best of luck!
