SCV's Les Mis CG was fantastic but unsure if the demand matches this year's.

there's one person on this board who's saying that. Is it fact now? One of my buddy's wife's cousin was at that show and said SCV had their worst run of the season. Bluecoats should be worried! /s

I am an SCV homer through and through and it's been a struggle being a fan that past decade. Their mediocre placements over the years can be attributed to these reasons: 1) Rise of the Bluecoats and Crown made SCV's permanent fixture in the top 4 a thing of the past 2) Brass program has been consistently lacking compared to its peers (constantly changing captions heads the past 10 years made sure of this). 3) Show design from '06-'14 (save a few exceptions, mainly '09 and '13) were often cheesy (scheherazade part 2, Eureka!), underdeveloped (devils staircase, bartok, music of the starry night) or ill-conceived (3three). 4) SCV's lackluster results made keeping or recruiting the best performers harder to do (especially with the Blue Devils just a stone's throw away). I hope 2015 indicates a turning of the tide for the organization.

whoa. Captions ALL OVER the place. Cadets guard (4th) could be the thing that keeps them from winning. BD's brass came in 3rd tonight... Wow. Crown's GE score (4th tonight) nearly a point down from 3rd place.... could it be their thud of a closer? And SCV's brass (5th tonight, after Cavies) could keep them out of medal contention during championships.... and where do the Bluecoats fit in???? I thought we'd have more clarity after tonight regarding placements, but still lots of question marks!! AMAZING SEASON SO FAR.

It's not even a theme. Every single drum corps, every single year, for the entirety of DCI's history has been moving sound-- that's the point of playing music and moving your feet.

Cavies score exactly the same as 4 days ago? Okay.....

Somone will point out that this thread is about complaining about people complaining. Then someone else will say that that person is just complaining about someone complaining about people complaining. Ad infinitum. The point is, people always complain. It's the internet. Pay attention to what you want, ignore the rest.

This show is something! SCV has the vehicle to medal, but competition is fierce this year. Lots to clean throughout the show, which means SCV has a lot to grow still. Closer needs work-- it's missing that something.

yeah, the two aren't mutually exclusive. SCV needs something new and intense.

someone do Sparke's Music of the Spheres already. I know Crown's been obsessed with space lately, but there is no other brass program that can do that piece justice!

As far as modern colorguards go, BD 1999 is a highpoint. Cadets 2005 is another. Hard to touch BD 99 though, those kids could could toss and dance. How often do you see an all rifle feature and an all sabre feature in the same show? NEVER. AND THEY WERE FLAWLESS.

Its been forever since scv beat phantom in both brass and percussion in one night.

Star 1990 is my absolute favorite sounding brassline.

The most exciting part of the movie for me was the hotel hall scene with the fighting and the floating and the wrestling on walls then ceilings and the music is all loud brassy half note chords like BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM. Exciting stuff for the film (as the static, brooding nature of the music is juxtaposed against the very fluid, ballet-like fight scene), but I don't know if that could translate well on the field. Oh, and try getting Zimmer's approval. Seems unlikely.

if BD, Cadets, and Cavies finish in the top 3 by finals, i'll laugh so hard.
