  1. I think the "selections from past years" on the concert ad probably refers to the fact that they will play additional music from past years that is not from the actual 2017 production.
  2. Yep, over the last 15 years Cavalier's average score is 96.20 and Phantom Regiment's is 93.95.....total annihilation by 2.25.
  3. Speaking honestly as a definite PR homer, there would have been no shame in placing below the Blue Knights, who put out an amazing product. I liked PR better, but I already told you I am a homer and definitely know that BK was a great corps this year... my favorite show from them since 1994. DCI and the fans all benefit when BK is soooo strong. Best of luck for continued success and keep pushing out great products. Truly believe they have their ducks in a row.

  5. I think the corps was really let down after quarterfinals on Thursday- they were ahead of Cadets on the previous Sunday and came out in quarterfinals barely in 6th and several points behind Cadets, and things just got worse mentally for the Corps after that. 8/9/92 Blaine, MN Phantom Regiment 93.7 8/14 Quarterfinals 92.1 Cadets of Bergen County 93.1 95.3 Crossmen 90..0 91.5 Freelancers 81.0 Sky Ryders 80.9 Colts 75.4 Dutch Boy 75.1
  6. The seats in the sections on the home (concert) side are numbered right to left as you face the field, so if you get tickets in section 1SS, for example, the rows have 23 seats - you will be closer to the 50 yard line if you get seats closer to #1 than you would be with seats closeer to #23.
  7. I thought only the first four minutes of the 1987 show used music from Swan Lake.
  8. Semifinals starts earlier now because there will be 25 corps competing instead of 17...second year in this format.
  9. Thanks for the correction about drums...I was wrong there. Where did you see full panel tomorrow? I have seen two lists and they were both 5 judge panels. Just asking, I would like to know who is judging.
  10. Akron is not a full panel, and drums were judged tonight. Check the recap again. Good start for the Bluecoats.
  11. Whether it was that Phantom Regiment had a bad show or was simply underscored at quarterfinals in 1996, the result was that they came away that night both p_ _ _ ed off and more determined than ever. Blue Stars was a great corps, good enough to be a finalist. Problem was that 12 other corps were as well. It was the opinion of the judges on Friday that Crossmen made a better case to be in finals overall. It is always a matter of opinion with judges, but it is not a matter of a corps being screwed, discriminated against or picked on. By the way, the Blue Stars membership that I saw after they learned that they had missed finals handled the result with a lot of class and dignity.
  12. Thanks for the notice and the hard work.
  13. Not arguing a point either way, but for the record, here's the number of shows I found for each corps in 2012 (excluding rainouts): Corps Shows Academy 26 Blue Devils 24 Blue Knights 26 Blue Stars 30 Bluecoats 28 Boston Crusaders 30 Cadets 35 Carolina Crown 33 Cascades 24 Cavaliers 34 Colts 26 Crossmen 32 Glassmen 25 Jersey Surf 17 Madison Scouts 29 Mandarins 18 Pacific Crest 20 Phantom Regiment 31 Pioneer 20 Santa Clara Vanguard 29 Spirit of Atlanta 29 Troopers 28
  14. Rennick's PR lines from 2003-2010 finished like this: 2003 - 5th, 19.0 2004 - 5th, 18.65 2005 - 2nd, 19.35 2006 - 1st, 19.7 2007 - 2nd, 19.6 2008 - 1st, 19.85 2009 - 5th, 18.7 2010 - 1st, 19.6 Gwaltney's PR lines from 2011-2012 finished like this: 2011 - 7th, 18.5 2012 - 7th, 18.6 When you compare the first two seasons at PR for each, they are not all that different. Also, you have to consider show source music and what can be done with it as far as writing the parts. Gwaltney's line this year finished only .5 away from Rennick's highly regarded line - thats only a .25 difference in effect on the final score. The top drumlines were really good this year. Rennick was able to take the talent with him when he left, which was a factor as well. I think Gwaltney deserves a chance to develop his line and his arrangements to fit PR. Rennick was in a good place with the drumline at PR by the third year, winning the title in the fourth year.
  15. Phantom Regiment's medal count is actually 12: 2 Gold (1996, 2008) 5 Silver (1977, 1978, 1979, 1989, 2006) 5 Bronze (1991, 1993, 1994, 2005, 2012)
  16. Thanks for the review, I agree with much of it. DOn't forget Phantom Regiment's 1996 score of 97.4 when you rank this year's score historically.
  17. It is Eastern time, not Central.
  18. I don't think they make semifinals this year. I think they'll be 27th, or 26th at best - 28th at worst. I think 5 Open class corps beat them.
  19. Semifinals now consists of the top 25 from prelims. They may not be in the top 17 at prelims, but there's no chance they will miss semis.
  20. What he said....this is how it works for me now with Windows 7.
  21. Thanks, Harvey. I share your bias, but even if i didn't, I appreciate the time taken to give a review and share your perspective.
  22. Didn't see where he said Phantom should have won...he said it was his favorite show. He thought they should have been closer in score, but that also indicates he thought Devils were first. As a matter of fact, I think he even used the adjective awesome to describe the Devils. I know people pick at the Devils...it's always that way when you are such a successful organization, but this seems a little "too sensitive" in regards to this person's post. It's almost like looking for a problem.
