BD3BK2R2
I was there when the Frack happened in 89. I was there in 86 when about 10% of our corps in the the Blue Knights were struck by lightning. Travler

star27th
It didn't acutally say "We Quit", but that was the jist of it.Definitely a sad night! The banner read: We gave it our all, we have nothing left to give. Good-bye.

Piper
I was at the World Open in 1973 when the St. Andrews Bridgemen topped the St. Rita's Brassmen for the title. That was back when the Saints really DID come marching in.
matgencontra
Ha, I was at both of those. The first one as a performer. I didn't see bones there, that was probably cool. I do however remember the Gerogia Dome leaking. That was a MONSTER storm. Didn't Crown actually setup up their opening set, leave the field, and eventually come back?I was there when Charlie Poole got clocked by a piece of guard equipment during BAC's show in Connecticut (New London?) in '03 and was taken away in an ambulence during the performance. I was there also but he got clocked by a bass drummer .
drumno5
....40 G horns on the starting line (or back sideline) projected & sounded better than 85 Bb/F horns on (or in front of) the front sideline, ie any "G" year Madison Scouts/BD vs 2008 Bluecoats = Mad/BD FTW Sure, whatever you say, pal... phantomws
I was there the night the Velvet Knights won their very first legit, non-rained out show....in 1987, beating Suncoast and Sky. We actually did a Victory Concert. Didn't even know how...but we did it!!I was there the night the Velvet Knights broke a 90 for the first time in corps history at the OLD Port Huron show, and I won high drum major over the gods of Phantom and Star--and the person who couldn't believe THAT feat the most.....WAS ME!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost didn't go accept the award because I thought it was a mistake. I was there at the Stillwater show in 1985 when I found out the entire corps (or so the story goes) of Phantom had been poisoned by bad water. Sort of scared me to be honest. In was in Stillwater in 1986 too, watching my corpsmates get sick as we warmed up. We lost about 35 folks (sick not dead)to food poisoning that night and had to do a standstill. The next the Minn. DHHS didn't want us to leave the state, but the Rockford show was that night. After some artful negotiation we were allowed to leave the state with a police escort to the Wi. border. We then high tailed to Ill. were we picked up another police escort to Rockford. Funny thing, being young I didn't call my parents when all of this happened, however it made the AP and they read about it in the paper that morning. They weren't planning on coming to the show but htey wanted to see if their son was still alive. I got chewed out pretty bad for not calling. 84BDsop
The 86 Regiment incident made Stars and Stripes -- the US military newspaper....I read about it while on TDY to England (right before I joined Dagenham Crusaders, in fact)
