Things were fine in Fresno, great volume, and a packed theatre

Volume was very low in West Des Moines. After Bluecoats, myself and another gentleman went out to ask them to turn it up. Devils were still too low, and I think another guy went out. After that, they finally turned it up to a level that was acceptable, if not desirable.

What cracks me up is that I saw Star Trek in that very same theater last weekend and the sound was shaking the theater.

Looks like we were in the same place. Even after they turned it up, it still couldve gone up a few more notches. As you said, star trek rocked the place volume wise (and i wasnt complaining then either, awesome movie). This has consistently been everyones biggest complaint, DCI really needs to do something about this.

Other than that, i gotta agree with those saying ditch the studio audience. If the audience actually provided good feedback itd be one thing, but nobody wants to criticize the performances, everytime its just 'that was so good'

Attendance wasnt the greatest at our theater, especially considering there used to be a des moines and ames theater, so a lot of people that i used to see in ames were here in west des moines.

The studio audience thing was pretty lame.

We had some focus issues at our theater, but only for the corps performances. The studio stuff, and the reporting from camps and such were fine. The performances themselves were somewhat fuzzy.

VERY quiet in our theater, well, after the 15 minutes of "Hey, How ya

been etc.".

Show starts and I proclaim the sound is not going to be loud enough.

VERY quiet for the first 2 corps then about 10 of us get up to complain

about the sound.

I'm the 3rd one to reach the "Customer Service" booth and as the high

school kid behind the booth gave the same response that the levels

were set as high as they could, I LOUDLY stated BULL#### to which she

looked in horror as most people in the lobby looked our way.

Poor thing calls the manager down ( who is not much older ) and he

gives me the same BS. As I state that we are in the end theater with

mostly ex marchers, band students and band directors, that in fact

it's not loud enough.

BLA BLA BLA.........

Ok, if indeed you levels are set at their highest, please allow me to

see them so I can complain with DCI. If it's their feed, I don't mind

starting with them......

" oh sorry sir, you can't see the settings"

WHAT ? WHY NOT ?

Security reasons sir.

Security reasons ? How about I bring back the Homeland Security guy

who's in the theater and let HIM check the levels.

uhh ummm uhhhhh I'll go call DCI and see what THEY can do

Well, do it quickly or refund my money at the end of the show along

with the other 100-130 people who are also ######. ( yea, like no one can look at the volume settings for security

reasons )

Well, at least we got better sound for the last 3 shows.

By the way, people who bought tickets at $12 got screwed, I paid

9.50, some of my students paid $10 and yet one person was charged

$15 ?

As far as the mini pep rally /pat each other on the back feel good BS

inbetween shows, it is just enough time to go smoke a cigarette / buy

a drink / or hit the restroom and not miss a show.:beer::laughing::doh:

I must say that it was interesting to compare those different years

against one another on the big screen

Tonight, INT took the show the 11 (12 ? )performances of the night

:doh::tic::ohmy::tic::doh::doh::ohmy:

Our theater also had a tech glitch at the beginning as they showed for several minutes the opening on a rewind mode. Very few problems after that and we did get to see it from the beginning. We would have liked the sound to have been louder.

I went to this same theater last year (Zanesville, Ohio) and there were a total of 10 people. This year there were about 40. The audience was pretty much DEAD. No applause at all for the most part. There was also some high school twit with a laser pointer.

My group liked the previews, but thought the segment with the audience at LOS was a TOTAL waste of time! Will Pitts did a very nice job. Lose the guest audience, give us more previews.

I certainly don't think it was worth $12.50, but DCI puts it on at a time when the real corps junkies are desperate enough to shell it out.

Jeeze... I'm glad I didn't go... at least I shelled out over 30 bucks to watch the Phillies forget how to hit and throw a baseball!
