84BDsop
It needed Conquest Not if you wanted a stadium still standing at the end!! (although, I WOULD like to hear a full rendition at finals...those 2 bars of hits just don't cut it)
jjeffeory
Blue Knights '90 just missed finals in 1990. There were such a great group of corps from 12th - 17th that year. Boston was 11th during World Prelims ( day before quarterfinals) but ended up in 15th place by semi finals... Freelancers' Batman show was 14th but would have made a great finalist too. Magic of Orlando 16th ( The Magic) had a great Walt Disney's Fantasia show... They also had many former Suncoast sound staff and members... All of these corps were within about 1.5 points of each other during quarters and semi finals.... World Prelims Position Corps Score 1 Boston Crusaders 84.400 2 Spirit of Atlanta 83.100 3 Dutch Boy 82.300 4 Blue Knights 82.100 5 Magic of Orlando 81.500 6 Troopers 79.400 7 Glassmen 76.900 8 L'Insolite 73.100 9 Marauders 71.900 10 Academie Musicale 71.500 11 Sky Ryders 70.600 12 Ventures 70.000 13 Colts 69.200 14 Black Gold 67.700 15 Limited Edition 65.900 15 Northern Aurora 65.900 17 Florida Wave 65.700 18 Americanos 64.400 19 Mandarins 63.900 20 Railmen 59.700 21 Kiwanis Kavaliers 59.400 22 Carolina Crown 58.600 Edited May 23, 2012 by jjeffeory
Catan
I agree with everything posted thus far, but I also really, really enjoyed 2011 Glassmen. Spirit was much cleaner, but I thought Glassmen had a stronger program. Really tasty percussion book, beautiful brass book, and a really expressive and energetic guard program.
madalumni
I gotta go with Southwind 2000...epic show for them!
mikespeed
Gotta be 2000 Southwind for me. Top 12 in EVERY caption at semis, yet 13th place overall. Z Everyone and their brother beat me to this one! It still bears repeating though. Excellent show.
MikeD
And of course, this was during the era before stopwatches were invented. Yeah, I think the hourglass had some issues.

drumno5
1991 Dutch Boy. DB '88 and '89 were good, finalist-worthy teams too. Peace, Fred O.
WWonka
DB '88 and '89 were good, finalist-worthy teams too. Peace, Fred O. Yeah ya'll beat me too it. Dutch Boy was 13th in 88, 89, 91 and made finals at 12th in 90. 88 - The Sinatra show was smoking. I remember being 1/2 asleep during prelims and wondering who the hell was that opening up. Big, loud and impressive. But Sky Ryders with "Sound of Music" definitely deserved to make finals also.
