Geoff
the sheets don't have a mandatory must move time. Remember the arguments against brigs during their run? Do what you do, do it clean, and do enough of enough things well to show you can. it works. Don't believe me, look at BD There were arguments against us? Jeff Ream
:worthy: :worthy: :worthy: Thank you, Thank you and THANK YOU!!! (by the way...did I say THANK YOU???) These frreaking armchair quarterbacks, who sit back and watch videos and JUDGE others, who make rediculous predictions, march 1 year in a corps that barely makes finals, who knows everything, telling the people that have been doing this on the field for 30+ years, that we are wrong....still freakin amazes me!!! Frank, Watched a video of you last night from the other week. Here's my dillemma.....on video, you look like you still got it.....but...we're told we can't go off of everything we see on video...hmmm

I can not believe Frank missed this

Edited August 3, 2012 by Jeff Ream
Jeff Ream
Gary....I believe we have something that goes something like this, Those who can't, teach... Those who can't teach, judge... Those who can't judge, sit behind a computer, read recaps, watch videos, predict scores, and criticize because that is all they CAN do!!! or do all at the same time
Jeff Ream
There were arguments against us? Oh yes. people criticized the lack of movement. I'll be honest, i did some. Then I got educated about the other types of demands besides run, run run. I know, it was buried amongst the rumors of pay for play etc, but they were there
camel lips
I attended my first drum corps show of the season last night. The TOC in Murfreesboro. I kept in mind what some of you were saying about being there is the only way you can have a educated opinion on things. I still respectfully disagree with you guys that being there is not the absolute. Note that I am respectfully disagreeing and not being a bully or jerk about it like some of the comments I have read here. Ive been following the DCI scores, recaps and videos all season long. I must say I saw things in the videos that I DID NOT see live. In a live setting you get distracted way more easily by staging. If a corps is staged correctly it WILL draw attention to the feature. If your zoned in on the feature in a live setting you may miss the big picture. Now with that said the live experience does collectively bring out certain opinions. For instance I was most swayed by Phantom last night. AFter being somewhat hard on them at times this season they really pilled it on last night. A man sitting 3 rows behind me stated he has been following them all season and last night was the cleanest he had heard them. Phantom may have what it takes for another come behind. I am not sure I would have seen that on the videos or the recaps so there is something to be said for being live. As for the smart elec remark about collecting judges tapes. You do realize there are some people out there that collect and share these????? If not let me inform you now that there are such individules that go to great lengths to capture these. I am very blessed to have a very large MP3 library of judges tapes dating back to the mid 70s. Both DCI and DCA. Chances are if you want a MP3 of your corps judges tapes I have it. How about the Field Percussion tape of the Sunrisers from DCA Finals in 1983....you know how special THAT one was, right??? So being that you were in Tennessee, I'd gather you haven't seen "ANY" DCA corps live. Not one! In fact you're several hundred miles from the closest contest that has a DCA corps in it. And yet you feel compelled to rank, rate and criticize. I see. You do realize every word you speak in any capacity is an insult to every hard working corps out there? Your rationale is like envoking the death penalty against Zeprude because he was seen in a video filming the Kennedy assassination.

I certainly hope that you're in touch with Brian Tolzman (Northern Thunder on DCP) as well as others that are participating in the preserving and archiving the history of drum corps ... I know Sky's historian, Jim Stanko, would be more than interested in obtaining anything that you have on them ... thanks for offering these gems up! :-)
