frachel
Or maybe they're currently practicing those changes and deciding not to put them in until they're cleaned and refined? But the point is - why are there changes going in? Because they need things to satisfy the judges. Maybe they were told on a tape, maybe they've planned it all-along, but as another poster said, they're playing "the game", and the game is all about doing what is going to get you the best score. So what if they're not cleaned and refined yet? What impact will that have - oh yes, they will go down in score.. but if it isn't about the score, why hold off? If its all about education, no reason not to have it in and then clean it as you go. Waiting for it to be clean before introducing it is obviously about not wanting any serious drop in score by having something dirty this late in the season. And when they have a certain set of members who can grasp changes as quickly as they think they can, they have no problem putting in changes late in the season. Same thing happened to us when I marched in 2000. This happens all the time and is not new. This years corps seems perfectly capable of learning new things and cleaning them rather quickly. No need to worry.

2000Cadet
Extremely talented corps. Boring show. Yes. You and a multitude of others have made the point clear. The show isn't changing.
kdaddy
Strategically adding or changing a show doesn't make one "all about scores". Just means they're playing the game, like every other corps who changes and/or adds things throughout the season. Sometimes it pays off. Sometimes it doesn't. There's no guarantee that the judges will love what they see or hear. And as a fan, I like the intrigue of watching the show develop over the summer, regardless of how it affects scores. In fact, I've always assumed that Crown added the worm hole bit last year solely for me to enjoy and without regard to the judges. What's the fun in a corps introducing the show as-is in June and then just getting better at it?

Every corps aims to provide the best education to its members as possible, but drum corps is also a competitive activity. You seem to think these things are mutually exclusive. They aren't. Every corps out there changes, tweaks, adds and removes as the season progresses. Some due to what judges suggest. Some due to what the members can or can't handle. Some due just because it was planned that way. In no way means that the staff doesn't give two ##### about the members' educational experience. drummergirl
Hop posted tonight that the changes that were to go in this week in time for ATL won't be happening until next week. This was due to their travel issues last night and a loss of rehearsal time. There was an interesting photo posted with a sneak peek at something. Looks like Oprah.
