fsubone
I've always been partial to down endings, whether it's Cadets or SCV. They always seem to do it the best
brichtimp
As excessive as Cadets' banners and flags and giant people and multiple uniforms? Apples and hand grenades.
fsubone
Apples and hand grenades. How? Because one was visual and GE excess that messed up a solid show, and the other was musical, and was an absence of playing? You've made your stance against the Bluecoats show this year very clear, but I would appreciate you elaborating on how not having the percussion play during the ballad was a poor decision. I was never 'against' the Coats show this year...their finals video is in my iPad rotation right now...very cool show. However, in my opinion. it was disjointed...the battery shreds on the front line and stops...then the ballad with no battery for 3+ minutes...just excessive, IMHO. Also, having viewed all the shows in Indy all 3 nights, I did not see a wondrous surge by Coats in Semis or Finals vs Prelims.....their GE was pretty much the same all three nights, and the visual dirt evident on Thursday, was still there on Saturday. I never drank the pitch bend 'koolaid' favored by so many fans either. It wasn't the idea that their great battery didn't play in the ballad...it was the duration that I found excessive. After Prelims, I thought SCV had a better shot at jumping Coats than Coats jumping Cadets. Edited October 8, 2014 by brichtimp
Tim K
Usually with a question like this I go "way back" which is probably 1979-1988, but closings have changed quite a bit though the best closers, like the past closers of 27th, Spirit, SCV, etc., do summarize the overall show. I'm also prone to the cop out if ties when I can't decide, but this format allows me to break the tie, though in each case music and visual was strong. Musically: SCV 2012. Visually: SCV 2013 Overall: Crown 2013. Edited October 14, 2014 by Tim K

Cappybara
Musically: Phantom 2010 Visually Cadets 1987 Overall: Madison 1997/SCV 1997 Phantom 2010: Probably some of the most beautiful music ever played on the football field slightly hampered by intonation issues. One of my favorite shows overall though! The resolution in the closer was amazing.
