That's the flag already used in the closer.

Shows you what I know. Not a keen eye for guard design. :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again; some of these "themed" shows some corps put out there just don't make sense to me when I'm watching them. I don't want to have to read an overview before watching a show in hopes that I'll understand every nuance they place in it. If I can't figure it out by just watching it, then it doesn't matter if it has some deep meaning or underlying theme. If it does a good job conveying a message and it is performed well, then I'll probably like it. However, if it has no meaning but has some great music, awesome drill and color guard work, I'll like it too. Heck, I just like watching the corps practice and keep going over the same part. You know why? Because I get to get smashed in the face with a big sound (i.e. Crown) and watch their drill and color guard. I don't care if I get the whole story if there is one. I just like good MUSIC, MARCHING AND SPINNING. Show design is more than just a story or theme.

I can get goosebumps or want to stand to my feet in applause just because of a cool visual element or a beautiful and powerful musical moment. It doesn't matter whether the show is about a famous movie director, an opera, DaDa or whatever. Some of these themed shows take themselves too seriously and lose connection with the audience.

Thanks for capitalizing marching and spinning. :satisfied:

The judges criteria address "depth of concept." If you dont care about this or the scores for that matter, more power to you. Go eat hot dogs in Paris. I wont stop you from wasting your life. :colgate:

If performers are required to understand every design choice and in their show, and perform it night after night, the audience should at least take ot their smart phones, do a Google search and try to understand it too. Theres meaning in these shows, theme or not. Themes add meaning and emotion beyond the single layered 1970s "balls, volume and execution" paradigm. :dontgetit:

There's a richness and depth of humanity when a visual show matches the meaning in the music. That's one of the things that makes the art of drum corps different than a concert. But without a grounded concept, a show has a harder time conveying meaning that lasts. :cheesy:

And when a show mocks a piece of great music by ignoring its reason for being in the first place, or riffs on stream of consciousness associations based on a word in its title or some other tertiary association (Tilt, Ten), that's negligent and should be punished in scoring.

Theres only one thing worse than an ungrounded show concept, and thats giving up totally on looking for deeper more resonant experience. Now that's hot dogs in Paris. :dancin:

Here's your friendly reminder from Cappybara to not feed the troll.

I feel as if something is gonna happen on this thread. Again.
