Fan Network - Why have you forsaken me?

Recommended Posts

Whatever the reason, DCI should have notified subscribers beforehand that some of the subscribers promised product offerings would be eliminated. No announcement to current subscribers such as ourselves of changes is inexcusable, imo. Hopefully, this is just a momentary change, and DCI will put these shows back, or offer proportional rebates ( or even a full refund option ) for the deleted products promised, but will not be delivered upon as part of the agreed purchase contract between the buyer and seller.

Now if one bought a ticket to the show at a certain price which also allowed access to a certain tent for a "reception" during which "reception" there might be included the showing (re-reception?), well, uh, maybe...uh???

Oh goody, more creative ways to break the rules.

I need more targets on my back. Really I do.

But I like the (devious) way in which you think.

Well, based on the the shows that have been removed, it appears that DCI was contacted by at least the license holders for music by Leonard Bernstein, Chick Corea, Ottorini Respighi, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and John Williams.

Which shouldn't surprise anyone, since those composers/artists, either on their own, through the family, or rights holders have made changes that were not there when much of this music was originally used.

For example, in the fall of 2009, Bernstein's family made a complete overhaul of the usage of Mr. Bernstein's music which was not just intended for future use.

People can blame DCI all they want for not notifying them, but as is the case all the time with copyright, these issues come up at unexpected times, and in the case of many of these shows, long after initial usage rights were given.

Once again, copyrights and usage rights are not something that you obtain and never have to worry about or think about again, even if the recordings and performances, and arrangements are 40 years old. It's an area of law that is in perpetual motion.

Regardless, an email should have been sent upon removal of the videos.
