I can understand his leaving Madison after the betrayal he suffered there.

The sad part about this whole thing is how people seem to be taking pleasure in this. The situation of the staff leaving based on the actions and attitude of one man is completely devastating, and giv

Staff fed up in what way? Not trying to be snotty or sarcastic, just interested. Seems as though Cadets have not had a breakthrough idea, especially visually since Angels and Demons. You could usually count on Cadets to come in with something groundbreaking, or at the very least something that was out there and worked, every 2-3 years. Visually, they haven't looked like the Cadets in a few years. Those kaleidoscopic effects are not there at all. Maybe try going back to something like West Side Story to connect the audience and alumni?

Didn't they already fire and lose a ton of staff a year ago at this time? More at mid Season?

For one thing, I don't think they can go back to "West Side Story." The Leonard Bernstein estate, much like the Rogers and Hammerstein Foundation, has strict requirements regarding the use of their music. It has been suggested that Cadets 2009 production caused the Bernstein Estate to clamp down on things, but lots of composers such as John Williams and groups such as Disney maintain tight control of their music. Regarding being "fed up," it sounds as if staff had their hands are tied by the director. Whether this is just a case of the blame game or accurate is for people closer to the corps to determine. Interestingly, I find the audience was connected with this year's show. Critical of certain things yes, but still connected.

Crown has one of the best percussion staff in the activity. The problem isn't the staff, it's recruiting. How do you grab kids who want to go to BD, SCV, Bluecoats and the Cadets? It takes time to build a top line percussion program, and they've made great strides the past two years.

If it is true that the Cadets are going to be losing some of their top staff; I feel for some of those up and coming corps in the lower tier of the top 12 with captions that compete with the top tier. You know d**n well that George is going to be relentless about snagging them.

The WSS myth was not Cadets, but actually the countless marching bands that chopped up the music. The rumor started because of the timing of the letter.

As for Disney music, also a myth. Just need to take the time to do it.

John Williams is true.

However, there are composers and organizations with far less substantial material that are more difficult, which is absurd.

Safe to say there will probably be some sort of changes with the scouts.

Which I think would be a mistake...

In any given year, 85 is the typical score that gets you into finals. They scored and 85 and were pipped by a surging BAC. They had a great show that was instantly indentifiable as a Madison show. It was just bad luck. Wholesale changes or changing for the sake of change would set this group back 5 years at least.

Fwiw, Academy already announced their show design team is returning next year.

Dunno. Seems to me George's personality is the worst kept secret in DCI. Not much job security.

Don't make assumptions that you're not knowledgeable of.

Oh, and virtually all corps have some changes every year, even major changes in successful years.

But yes, Madison MUST be hitting the panic button.
