gbass598
Cute twitter DCI reposted on its web today (http://www.dci.org/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=33500&ATCLID=211332015) doing mannequin challenge, standing rimrod as corps plays Nimrod which they fielded in 2010, a bit before Crown. ??? Crown played Nimrod in 1996.
xandandl
??? Crown played Nimrod in 1996. right you are. I actually checked in corpsreps.com under both Enigma Variations and Nimrod, got distracted with something else, came back to it and botched. I am doing my push-ups. corpsband
??? Crown played Nimrod in 1996. Two times too many!! Loved the production value in 2010. Still -- Nimrod is just plain boring.
tesmusic
Two times too many!! Loved the production value in 2010. Still -- Nimrod is just plain boring. Never saw the appeal either. I like a lot of Elgar's music, but Enigma is just blah to me.
Lance
Nimrod has a nice lyrical/elegiac melody, but it's very thin as far as orchestration goes. Really, really tough to elevate and integrate into something like DCI, imo. A couple of arrangers have managed it, but it's a tough one. One of my dream pieces to get on the field is "The Prayer of St. Gregory" by Hovhaness, but it's got the same issue. Just very thin. I've played around with it a few times, and it's just really tough. Klesch could do it.
Lance
This summer, I get to see BK and BD live for the first time at the same show in over a decade. I'm pretty psyched.
flammaster
I see good things for the BK drumline. I am sure this year or next they will break top 5 in percussion.
