I'll never forget after living in Denver for a few months for grad school, visiting home for Christmas and not feeling so well after the flight. So I went through the check outline at the Walmart to sit on a bench while mom and dad were in line. I started looking around and got seriously weirded out. Other than one bag boy, everyone was white...everyone. I never noticed that growing up there so much but now I can't not see it and think, "This is weird, what did they do with all the people of color?"
