Carolina Crown is basically a regional Drum Corps these days now. They dont travel to the west or to the northeast.  For just one example, they are not like the Blue Devils that are by contrast a Drum Corps International ( DCI ) Drum Corps that travels throughout much of the country, and frequently overseas to Europe, Asia, etc and the like. Boston has been to the west coast, Canada and to Europe ( was supposed to go again to Europe a few months back if not for travel overseas concerns with covid ), and much of the country ( including Crown’s home shows ) . Nothing necessarily wrong  if Crown chooses to remain primarily a regional Drum Corps these days.  Understandable consideration must be given to stay within one's financial means, and cut back on distant traveling if it stretches the resources and budget

Cavies, Madison, Cadets, Bluecoats, etc don't travel any farther west either. Blue Devils, SCV, and the rest of the west coast corps kind of have to travel east considering 2 of the 3 regional sites are along the east coast (sort of). Not many corps travel exponentially anymore.

Cavaliers went out to Calif for early June shows as recently as 2018 . Madison Scouts in 2016. Cadets 2011 .
Phantom Regiment has been out there to Calif for early shows 3 times in June in 2010, 2015, 2017. Boston went out to Calif  in 2012 ( and all the way up the coast there to Washington state ). Crossmen went out there to Calif in 2014 .. Even Crown themselves went out there ( albeit awhile ago .. 2013 ) .
But it’s one thing to choose not to go to the west coast for shows , and then in tandem with that decision , to decide as an eastern seaboard Drum Corps not to venture up to NY/NJ/ N.E states anymore . Spirit of Atlanta attends shows in the northeast . Music City has recently .Same with Academy and Mandarins and Pacific Crest and others  But Crown is cutting back it seems of late the last few years  , opting to become mostly a regional Drum Corps now instead .

Okay, so where is Bluecoats in your comment? By those measures, they're doing the same thing then. I'm just saying Crown isn't the only one to do this, and coming off of Covid, it would be wise for any corps to do this if able to.

Didn't a bunch of corps (from WC and EC) meet in Texas early season one year?  I seem to think that was the case, but I didn't check it anywhere...

Yea 2011. I think they did two shows in Texas, but didn't announce the scores for both shows until after the second show finished.

At least that's what I remember, not sure how accurate that is.

Bluecoats  ? They will compete this season in the northeast ...at a show on August 3rd, in Glassboro, NJ. . In 2019, Bluecoats competed in 4 shows in the northeast... 6/26 in Pittsburgh... 6/29 in Lawrence, Ma..... July1st, Lynn, Ma...... July2nd, Rutherford, NJ.

Not sure " covid " can be explained as a rationale, as Crown will be traveling to show venues this summer a lot further away from Ft. Mills, SC than up 1-95 to New Jersey & N.E.

Some would say that Bluecoats, from Ohio, ARE from the northeast.
