BEST BD BALLAD 2014-2017
Brian Tuma replied to Chief Guns's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
2017. What struck me most about it was the seemingly effortlessness of it. The lead trumpet just stood back on the staircase all relaxed and confident and tastefully wailed over the ensemble. Remember BITD when sops would lean back and nearly herniate themselves? Yeah, I like BD's approach much better. -
I was actually wishing for more high end this season.

For an arranger who has been at it since the 1970's he sure has remained fresh and relevant. Bocook and BK are a great fit. They're encouraging each other to be at the top of their game. It's a very special collaboration.

I had the honor of being in the company of two 80+ year old ladies who were experiencing their first DCI show. They were blown away and loved every minute of it. -
Thank you Troopers for giving me one of my favorite musical moments of the season. The transition from the Tango into Nessun Dorma was brilliant.

Congrats on a well performed show. Avoid a topic like mental illness and voiceovers of "crazy" in the future. -
Semifinals- who makes the cut

One could argue that corps like Pioneer and Surf aren't necessarily getting the shaft so much as not taking the steps needed to be competitive. I like Pio's show and know the members are working hard but would really love to see them step up competitively. -
Woo Hoo! The drive from Milwaukee took us 4.5 hrs but felt way less.

Geriatric checking in. I love it too.

All of them, Katie. -
Seven years on and any mention of 2010 still sends chills down my spine. It also is the only time in all my years that I felt a drum corps improved upon the source music.

Even though they finished ninth I'm digging Pioneer's recap numbers. Loads of potential. -
IMO, the kick halt was last effective in 2010.

He needs to stay home and wallow in his bitterness.

They do take a bow while removing their "hats" this year.

I ran across one that was even more savage. It's worth the time it takes to scroll through. -

Looks like BK is outperforming their book. I find that curious with three weeks left. -

Please stop with the hyperbole. Thousands of corps every week? You do bring up salient points but I feel you undermine your message with the excessive hyperbole. -
It's a bummer their score fell a bit. It breaks their record of continually increasing their score through the course of the season. Two years (I think) without a hiccup. Oh well. Go Blue Knights!
