wow close poll.

I'm gonna be honest:

I personally beleived the cadets performed better than the BLue Devils. they just had design flaws (BD did too, but nothing as drastic), from the narration. Well i wouldnt call them flaws because they were meant to be and and interesting idea, I just don't think the judges, or very many people in the crowd accepted it into drum corps the way Mr. Hopkins expected. This, IMO, caused them their win.

At quarters, George didn't pull the corps...the judge coordinator did.

As for finals:

1) Hashmark debacle

2) Anniversary year for Blue Devils

3) Finals in California

4) Blue Devils hadn't won since 2003

5) Stadium full of Blue Devil fans

There was an agenda...even though they did more, and they did it cleaner, The Cadets never had a chance.

Guess the best corps doesn't always win.

burn... that is one hell of a post ya got there.

When's the last time you saw someone who got 2nd in semis win fullout in finals?

The championship really happens on quarterfinals.

And, no offense, but if George Hopkins hadn't so psychologically shaken up a corps that was focused and ready to kick ### by pulling them off the field before the performance and putting them back on to the tune of audience boos, the Cadets performance that night and, perhaps the top three placements, might have been very different.

And yes, I was there. Not on the field of course, but I was in the stands all three nights of Championships.

If the judge coordinator did it then why were the Cadets penalized???

As for the topic at hand: as much as I'd LIKE to say it hurt, that would just be me throwing anything and everything I can at narration unfairly simply because it drives me nuts however it would be intellectually dishonest to do so. The notion that narration "cost" Cadets ANYTHING is ridiculous.

As for my personal tastes, I can't STAND narration and would have loved to have seen Cadets show without it as I felt their 2007 show was nothing short of magical, and the narration was quite simply off putting and a distraction. I'm sorry if my opinion is not very palatable to those of you who marched the show who liked it the way it was, I'm sure you're getting sick and tired of people like me by now, but narration is just not a popular idea and is tolerated at best, despised at worst.

I really think it was due to the fact that BD was on home turf. If you noticed BD won and Vanguard moved up....a lot! Coincidence? I think not! Yes they did have to perform extremely well and BD did that, but in MY opinion I think Cadets had the better performance/show. (Go ahead and yell at me if you must)

....as opposed to low drum and guard marks...

From what I understand, the judge coordinator on the field did tell George they would redo the hashes and mentioned nothing about a penalty. George did the right thing considering the circumstances. I'm sure there could have been a better way to go about it, but at the time it was a decision that had to be made fast and I doubt he realized the crowd reaction would be so bad. It's a shame that the members had to endure what they did and even though it did effect their performance that night, it made for a more amazing and emotional semis performance.
