bill
You know you are old school when you remember the Hamms Indians asking to borrow a few pieces of equipment because they left some behind in order to make room for beer on their truck.
drumno5
You had a OTL Also a color pre, concert and exit. Anything that didn't fall into one of those categories was a "production number." regards, Fred O.
drumno5
You know you are old school when you think modern marching snare drums sound like porcelain tiles! Yeah, like banging on the side of a fiberglass porta-potty. Mylar, baby! Peace, Fred O.
drumno5
I'm going to answer your question, and THEN I'm going to look it up and see if I'm right, because I don't really remember either. I think "Buck" was the name of the company that sold the shoes. Edited: Buck shoes! Suede uppers, rubber soles. The ultimate marching shoes! Remember how to "clean" them? You got this white roll-on paint that came out of a squeeze bottle with a fuzzy red ball on top? And...they were cheap. We used to paint the soles black too, for additional bad*ss effect. Fred O. BRASSO
You are not " old school " if your former corps performed music from a composer that performed at Carnegie Hall in NYC. Opti-Burr
The whole Corps spending literally hours each year just marking time. This to ensure that everyone is lifting their feet up to their knees, with the arch of the foot coming all to why to the knee and the toes pointing down. gsksun4
We used to paint the soles black too, for additional bad*ss effect. Fred O. Same here, plus we buffed the white polish so there'd be a shine and it wouldn't get all over the pants and wouldn't scuff easily. I believe the term "white bucs" came from the original men's dress shoe in white was made from white buckskin, which I've also learned wasn't so very white at all. Plus yer really old school if you remember Pat Boone, Debbie's father wearing them on black and white TV. Or you may be "old school" if at the time you marched there was never such a thing yet invented.......but bushes, side of the bus, in a Coke bottle, etc. was the route. MikeD
And feeling really old when someone on DCP refers to 1995 as "back in the day." :tongue:/> You know you are old Skool when you yearn for the days of amplified pits with no synths.
