Tricia-A BD/BK Mom Posted June 22, 2013 Share Posted June 22, 2013 CC Kind of an unusual day -- SVC,BD,CC all having BBQ together at 615p so they EPL after lunch and head over to the show site In light of the competition and all it's refreshing to hear the corps will get together and enjoy each other’s company. Those kids do something I don't think I could have ever done. Having two kids go through the experience was/is fantastic. What I've seen through the years is people who have marched Drum Corps have a brother/sisterhood alliance, similar to what we have on DCP. The actual corps you march with becomes your family. I think there is a lot of merit to this quote- I'm amazed seeing that show last night that the spread wasn't MUCH bigger- BD was a mess... superOOk Posted June 22, 2013 Share Posted June 22, 2013 Just saw CC at full ensemble. Here are my impressions: 1) Horn line is WAAAAY better than rest of corps. OMG they are well polished for June. Very few holes throughout the show. VERY consistent through sets. 2) Drum line is sloppy. I mean really sloppy. What is worse -- they are very inconsistent through sets. One set is very close, the next is a mess. 3) I love the voice-overs, and it really ties together each piece as a whole show. I can't get it out of my mind. one, two, three, four... :) 4) Visual is where I would expect it for right now. Very good use of field. This show is going to win it, IF, and this is a BIG IF, the drumline can get their #### together. Battery was awesome. Tympanis are perfect in space and balance, amazing effect (much better than last year). They didn't do the full run-through. Sucks, gotta see if I can see them one more time before they head east. superOOk Posted June 22, 2013 Share Posted June 22, 2013 Darn, I just saw a run through of BD at Buchanan High School that was sent to me and It reminds me of why I hate drum corps in CA. Their show is such a mess right now. I am not saying it is bad, just needs work like all the shows do this time of year. I hate getting only live shows in CA in June. I am going to Stanford tonight, but 30.00 bucks (for pretty good seats, 50.00 for perfect) for incomplete shows just reminds me of how we get ripped off here on the west coast!!!
