corpsband
as I was taught waaaay back in the 70's when I was starting to judge, the two most important tasks a judge has to accomplish are to rank the corps in the order of finish and rate them against each other (the spread). yeah this is just a symptom of seeing the scores jump around without seeing recaps. not a big deal once you see what happened. Cappybara
A single judge can really impact a score iif they are on GE. Raw scores contribute right to the total. (Which is the rationale behind 4 GE judges at regionals). Exactly

skevinp
How were the mosquitos this year? Similar to previous years, except there was one mosquito that was much smaller than the others.
BRASSO
Just for the record, I obviously don't think Crown is at the same level as the other 2 corps who have a 73.9 (Crown is better) but when 5 different judges are giving scores and especially one of them really differs in opinion (these are subjective, after all), it's easy to see how a drop in score would happen. When you have more than one factor going into a total score, it's a lot easier for small differences in opinion to compound into one big score difference from another night And for the record, there is no competition, nor are there any judges that have collectively scored Carolina Crown and Phantom Regiment tied in a show. Also, DCI judges should not be held in any way accountable for any off site ranking system that purports to rank Corps in a manner that that website itself created, and might at the moment have ( for example ) Phantom Regiment and Carolina Crown tied with identical " scores ". This is neither fair to Phantom, to Crown, nor to the DCI Judging community. We can make whatever we want in regards to any of these website ranking systems. I think people look too much into the raw numbers when they should be looking at spreads and rankings against another corps IN THE SAME COMPETITION. Doing anything other than that is misinterpreting the judging system.
