Well, he is the corps director, soooo....

Sooooo.. there are other aspects that are directly responsible for success or failure. Can't blame one for all the problems or successes. They aren't the Titanic and if anyone thinks they are they should  stop with the:guinesssmilie: lol.

If you are referring to my post I never meant to infer the kids are not working hard enough. I know that to be untrue. My sole purpose was to give my opinion that when things go wrong George seems to be the first to be blamed. They are in this together win or lose. The kids bust their butts everyday.. We all know that or should. Funny how fast people jump ship when things don't goes as they would like. Sad but true. Go Cadets !!:cheer:

Of course, I understand that.  I've been to rehearsal many times.  The old man volunteered a few times,

Of course there are, but when you're the top dog, the buck stops with you as they say.  I don't think anyone is suggesting he's 100% responsible for their recent decline.

Bluecoats and waffles also had something to do with it, I'm sure.

This has probably been brought up previously in this thread. I don't feel like reading through dozens of pages to find out so my apologies if that's the case.

How much of the Cadets "step back" be attributed to the rise of Crown and Coats?  For a long time Cadets were the only consistent top 5 corp in the region. Plenty of top level talent coming there way.  With Crown and Coats emerging as perennial medal contenders, the top end talent on the east coast and surrounding areas gets more spread out between the three corps as opposed to just Cadets.

Those Glassdoor reviews were roundly dismissed as all within a few months and obviously from the same individual. Also Hopkins does not make 200k per year, not even close.

He has his critics but geez, hard to take that hipster on Glasdoor seriously at all

The 2014 Form 990 shows George Hopkins' W-2 compensation as $181,886, which wouldn't include other benefits, etc. His total comp is almost certainly over $200, or at least it was in 2014.

So, the director isn't responsible, and the members aren't responsible... who is left? The volunteers?

Ok thanks. Seems a bit too high even given his tenure.

I'm thinking you are responsible. Or maybe me?

Actually it may not be all his fault, but it is all his responsibility

Seems those reviews at glassdoor had some truth to them with respect to GHOP. There is one that sorta caught my attention. Here is the quote.

“The CEO is a sham, an arrogant child who takes whatever he wants while reminding YOU that it is a privilege to work for him.His life's work has been "preaching magnificence" while he himself has no integrity. Having never been a Cadet, it is of the utmost hypocrisy that he attempt to shape the minds of those who follow the organization, it's beliefs, it's creed - none of which have ANYTHING to do with the current power hungry and financially greedy C.E.O.. It is widely understood that the "Hop" talks are a waste of time as they are the very foundation of the wide-spread hypocritical bull that the CEO preaches, while treating everyone around him as though they are subservient. Any company chair person who constantly begs for donations, while taking over 200K in salary and benefits has absolutely no business preaching about shaping the minds of youth.”

a few negative reviews no problem - but those reviews have a very negative tone with respect to one person. Some of the actual statements made there if true and happened in any company there would have been some consequences. Yet it seems the direction of that remains the same.

Not saying just because of one performance things have to change but if everyone did not see this type of reaction coming then you're not being honest. In my opinion.

People who are charismatic and push organizations to new places are usually polarizing characters. I never met GH, but I get the sense from reports that he's probably a tough guy to work for - and maybe even to be around. No big surprises here. And BTW, I run a technology company, and in IT $200k gets you an average sales person. Taking a not-for-profit to the top of their game (+/-) for 35+ years... $200k + bennies is good value. There are going to be peaks and valleys. Everyone chill.
