If they look like they are on the verge of going over your ears onto your face, they're too big. You mean like this one?
Zerix
Sad to see nobody talking about Crown tonight. I'll observe this: 2017 is starting to remind me of 2015. A lot of negative comments on how "incomplete" the show is and how (although this doesn't apply to 2015) the vocals are - insert negative adjective here -. On finals night a hell of a lot of people thought they should have won. I've learned not to doubt their decisions.
Wog
It is not about a "negative adjective" towards the soloist but rather about the negative points hurdle that the current format of the soloist will cause (loss of points opportunity from GE and MUSIC). The brand for Crown is the hornline and it is needed for Crown to place at the top. That won't happen hiding behind the soloist. FTNK
Crown's brass is fantastic, but maybe too good for the good of the overall corps. They sound so good together, so they have programmed a lot of moments for them to play FFF together. But there is a sameness to the first half of the show-- it's a lot of full-ensemble brass. Then the second half is a lot of over-mic'd singing timbre. This is one of the things I like about BD--they allow things to breath and change up timbres

Singer wouldn't last a round on any talent show. Cavaliers are like a dog on the mailmans behind and I'm sure they will take a big bite very soon.
chaddyt
The problem for me with the singer isn't her ability. I think she's very capable. But capable doesn't cut it when you're in front of a hornline that is the current gold-standard in the activity. If you're going to have that brass line play back up to a vocalist, that vocalist needs to be way more than very capable.

The singer has a gorgeous voice, I just don't think the implementation is very good.
