British corps to attend 2017 DCI Championship

Recommended Posts

Two discussions going on:

Whether the DCE all-age corps will, as quoted in that DCI announcement, "...compete against the Blue Devils and Santa Clara Vanguard..."

Whether it's a good thing for an all-age corps to "...compete against the Blue Devils and Santa Clara Vanguard...".

(Interestingly, the answer to the first question doesn't answer the second, even when posted all in red lol.)

You really don't understand what is going on, do you?

They're in a different class. The classes compete against each other. The placement of the international class corps in no way affect the placement of world or open class corps. They're "extra." They get ranked, but if they place 25th in prelims, then 26 corps compete in semifinals.

As for if its a good idea for them to compete with the top corps, who cares? Les Stentors competes against BD, SCV, and every other corps in prelims. Is that a bad idea then?

I don't think it's worth trying to be rational....LOL

They're going to be treated just like Jubal, also a DCE all-age corps, was treated by DCI in 2015.

If the answer to question #1 is "no", then question #2 is moot.

If we are talking about any corps who does not do 3-4 weeks of all days and at least 6 weeks of tour, then question #2 is still moot. They are not really going to be competing with BD or SCV anyway, either literally or figuratively. Are you afraid that The Company might outscore corps of that caliber?

They are coming to visit for the DCI experience. I can't believe this is such a topic. Corps from all over the World come and perform and YES compete at DCI. The only threat they are is having a great time and experience the high level of drum corp competition and experience. Who cares if someone is 24 or 34.

Stop. You're making too much sense.
