I’m gonna be very curious to see that. Transferring is what made Boston so good so quickly, not just the instructional talent. I have a hard time believing that a lot of kids will not stay with Vanguard. It happened in the reverse from Phantom to SCV in 2011, though in the percussion section. I'm not sure brass would be so tied to an arranger.

It seemed that when JD was at Phantom he was in font of the arc a few times - not sure if he was so much at SCV.

Why would a kid jump from a corps that has been top 3 lately to a corps that barely made finals? I'd take a corps with Michael Gaines at the helm over what's happening in Rockford, even if Shaw, Hunt, and Sage are back, any day of the week.

The Vanguard member experience is on a different plane from where PR is these days. As for the rest of PR's reported moves, they need an artistic re-set and re-design, not a return to 2000's programming - these moves are exactly the opposite approach. Oh well, not my circus, not my monkeys.
xandandl
Rumor is that the DCA change for Finals' schedule off Sunday has nothing to do with Dorian but that Willie-burg hotels are needed for DCI corps' CEOs and teams of legal assistants and celebrity agents to dot the i's and cross the t's of all those staff change contracts before Announcement Tuesday. As in previous recent seasons, my agent says there is still a hang-up on which corps will provide my preferred Dino feed and rest home rehab to the standards to which I have grown accustomed. But we'll figure it out before Annie Tue gets here. Edited August 30, 2019 by xandandl

There's quite an interesting little tid bit on there about Pitts being out of the program coordinator AND brass arranger role at phantom. I'll hold back my enthusiasm until I actually see it happen though. Beeeeeeeeee careful reddit will get Cavaliers fan all bent out of shape. I hear you, but I don't really see it like that. I see it as an injection of competence by people who have had success in drum corps. I mean, if JD Shaw was hanging out on a beach since 2011, then I'd agree - he's been putting together top four shows nearly since his arrival to SCV. general_tsos_chicken2
they can sit down for 11 minutes in their pajamas, as long as they are playing music arranged by jd shaw, it will still probably be my favorite show in dci
