Fourth corps fine, but scorewise how is that not third *place*? If Crown is now third place, please get the Crossmen back in the building because they made finals. 3 1
denverjohn
If I remember correctly, this 3-medal business was never part of retreat and score announcements for DCI (BITD) and pre-DCI Legion, VFW, World Open, US Open, etc. (just placements and number). World Open was 10 (not 12). Why not just eliminate all this medal business and let the corps play themselves off the field after finals? Anyone remember when they started the "medals"? Some of their work is a derivation of one or more other pieces of art with unique and originally-designed visual and musical aesthetic to create a whole new piece of art. Several corps, including Blue Devils created original music and choreography, in addition to the original choreography of marching drill. Disagree. Simply by virtue of it being diluted and forced into a narrow structure of utility, it is not art. It is the opposite of art. It is a showcase of competitive excellence, achieved through the corruption of artistic expression into a competitive medium where utility is the driving force. Not art. 1

I hope I’m not in trouble for enjoying it on an emotional level. 1

Then an entire DCP topic goes away. Wait a minute -- we'd then argue whether that was the correct decision or not. 😉
