Is your comment supposed to be some sort of a slight? I sure hope not. Whether or not you wear headgear, the drum corps experience is pretty much the same today as it was 5,10,15,30 years ago. You spend the better part of the year working your butt off to entertain people and when you have the crowd on your side, there’s no better feeling! All those hours/days/weeks of rehearsing melt away in that moment. Feel free to flame away at this old Q-Tip. Maybe similar to 5-10 years ago, but little similar experience from 30 years ago according to many posting on DCP. Those who marched 30 years ago are likely to see their kids marching today. Most of the kids today don’t care about hats. And I’m not bonded to them either. 3

I think they meant that it's the usual "Back in my day" type of thread/post that we've come to expect from the "dinosaurs" of the forum. As in "DCI was only good when they did the things that I like", which again is an opinion or preference, and doesn't equate to failure across the board. 1

Yes, hats/no hats is definitely subjective, others may/do feel otherwise 99% of the posts on this site are opinion (no, this isn't documented), and it would have very few posts it it were strictly objective Drum corps traditions/history plays a big part of its popularity today and its future Many of us that have supported the activity for many years agree with the performance and business evolution An argument is weakened when you have to resort to insults Edited April 6, 2023 by cowboy0324@gmail.com
OldSnareDrummer
Now here's something we haven't had here in a while. At least a week or two. An old-fashioned dinos vs youngins smackdown. 🍿

Drum corps traditions come and go, are born and die. Just like everything else in life. This doesn't mean that any new fandangle should be considered a failure. Even in an opinion, it's still negative. 2. Many of you that support the activity can agree all you want, but the fact of the matter is you aren't on the field anymore (if you have ever been), and the kids who are marching today have no problem with not wearing something on their head that neither adds nor detracts from the product they are putting on the field. Again, your opinion that it is a failure. 3. I didn't resort to insults. I put quotations around certain words to ensure that it would be obvious that I wasn't using those words as insult, but rather quotations from other members of this forum. Others used it before me without the quotations, again indicating that I wasn't use them in a derogatory manner, so why not go after them? 4. Nobody is saying that you aren't entitled to your opinion, but when you bring negativity to the forum maybe you should take a step back and re-evaluate your approach. 49 minutes ago, OldSnareDrummer said: Now here's something we haven't had here in a while. Ask a drum corps organization or typical fan if traditions are important, you really think they'll say no? Something in quotes doesn't cleans it from being an insult. #4: I don't see what is negative about preferring corps members wear hats, etc. during performances. Have a nice day.
Mello Dude
IMHO, headwear makes the corps have more stage presence. Everyone looks taller. I really don't care one way or the other but from just an aesthetic standpoint, corps without headwear don't look as good. 2
