Kinda got off topic and the OP (me) added to it. Mods please keep this open as getting close to the season and would like to see if what is discussed here shows up as corps do their touring.

If it remains on topic or even close.  At the moment though, the odds do not look to be in your favor.

...and FWIW IMO coasters are a deviant form of devil worship.

A tongue in cheek take on Action Park by Surf would be great.

Take a page from Music City's train crash drill but make it a roller coaster.  Have MMs gradually shift to playing one handed with the other arm in a sling.

It could hilariously fun.

Ok if it closes I can open a new one when season starts. Sumthin’ like “Current season procedures helping?”.

And my back issues are keeping my on the straight and narrow I guess. 😆 (can’t do rough rides)

🎶 down in robot hell 🎶 (Futurama reference).

edit - Jersey Surf could build on last season’s Atlantic City show & do one based on Action Park.  All kinds of potential.

Don't if they tried to get the rights.

But a Jersey Corps, doing a show about A/C and not including Bruce's Atlantic City, kind of

hurt.

There needs to be better development overall.  Again, this is a tough barrier.

However, housing could be better managed and there could be a better exchange between show appearance fees, versus housing provided.   IF you change how many days of housing are provided for FREE, in exchange for show operators (the few who aren't DCI adjacent) you could really make a dent in corps costs.  You have to feed the corps, you have to rent equipment to move everything (at a monthly rate for cost efficiency), and you have to house the corps.  When schools were free for use, this activity cost much less.

Gotta find a way to get more show ops, who can keep what they make off of ticket sales and concessions, and then have them provide 3 days minimum for each group at sponsored schools.  That may change the costs issue of this activity pretty drastically.  But again, this requires a full overhaul of how tour and show sponsors is handled.

School districts will hardly allow groups to PAY to stay at the school, let alone for free. It's not like the old days where if you knew the band director they'd just unlock the school for you.

Hosting a show is already a pretty big gamble for people (LOTS of upfront costs), requiring housing would not only probably be more expensive than the appearance fees, but it would also add a tooooooon of work on the show host side.

yes. im aware of those costs, the operations, the legwork.  I'm also aware that staying at a school for a day with fields, all the rooms needed to separate membership, showers, heating, cooling, security, admin costs can charge the corps now $3000/day.   No longer is it "everyone go to the gym".

So trading the ability for show ops to make more money, and gambling that against elevated costs might be a way to get the corps to monetize the students less, and encourage more show operators to sponsor.

However, the current state of the activity has created a situation where the governing body (DCI) would be happier having less shows but all managed under their umbrella.  Controlling the event for QC is fine, but it also limits outflow of cash, and puts more burden on the individual corps for the rest of the season.

Don’t forget Cannonball Loop looping water slide.  They bribed staff w/ $100 to test the thing; one said ‘$100 doesn’t buy enough booze to erase the memory’.

Not sure how you do this on the field

😳

surely you don’t mean an upside down loop?  You can’t do that with a water slide because.  Well. Gravity.

I wonder if bloo’s props from downside up and jagged line could create this …

Google it.
I am really liking the idea of a Surf show using Action Park theme.
