I'll take that over hearing "right here! right now" 6,500 times.

They’re at about the same level of annoying for me

You must not be listening, since none of them are even remotely the same.

But the idea of it and presentation is the same year after year

Ow.  One of tenors' heads caught the light and it was legit JJ Abrams lens flare moment.

Both are bad

In the case of Bluecoats, go listen to the source music.  It's completely appropriate.

If you were involved with Symphonic Band music, especially in the 80's you may know the name W. Francis MCBeth - "Masque", "Chant and Jubilo", "The Seventh Seal" - I was fortunate to meet him and one of the questions I asked was how he kept the characteristic sound of his works .... I meant part voicing but he answered that the biggest criticism he got was that his music was basically one long version of a huge piece .... they were all the same.

He said he took it as a compliment that you knew what he was trying to say and that everyone understood his vocabulary....and his meaning(s)....

....and I think Blue Devils work exactly the same way.....it was interesting that Dr. McBeth actually had a working relationship with them.....I love what they do and the way they put their meanings together....and it's not just because I'm a FMM.
