2023 DCI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS

Recommended Posts

Blue Stars
MTS: movement technique/safety, C.: Costuming, PQ: performance quality

MTS: Great releases in the head/neck when called for. Excellent extension/point in the feet so far. Eep, until the turn with bent leg as freebody under rifle. Womp. Wowow back handspring under rifle solo. Love this! Don’t sacrifice the strong catch for a trick though! Flag trio thank you for pointing your feet I love you mucho mucho.

C.: Lagola right? Love variety in costuming. All body types look great! Colors make perfect sense. Excellent all around.

PQ:  Missing some unison on freebody here. Into second movement now and I’m not seeing consistent connection to audience atm. Lots of focus on equipment and props, but you have to share that with the audience. OKAY YES weapons on FSL, EXACTLY, but you’re relying on the hornline swell. What about the other times? 😊 HELL YES SPOON WEAPON TRICKS GREAT JOB ON FINALS NIGHT! OMG ballad twirls look so fun and you make them look easy with 45s cut all over the place. Beautiful. Exchanges with flag at end of ballad perfect. Way to go. Love the saber/dancer duets. Wait, nonono designers: no to pas de chats in place, that is supposed to be a moving step; in place and it’s very difficult to perform without more training boo!

FUN STUFF BLUE STARS! Much to be proud of here. Congrats!

Dumb question...   what's with all the man-scara. Is that a drum corps thing for effect, or are all the kids wearing it these days?

crazy that we just now get to full corps in new unis

That's sort of the thing....the absinthe ritual doesn't change the color of the drink instantly. It's done slowly as it drips through the sugar in the spoon.

I really enjoyed Blue Stars as always. Bravo for putting a unique and daring show on the field with verve and passion. It wasn't their year placement wise but they will come back strong next year - they learn from the creative risks they take.
