Piper
It wasn't DCI, but I'll go with the NY Skyliners Elk's Parade. Guys like "Johnny Grass" and "Dirty Eddy" could get your fanny out of the seat and on your feet in a hurry.
corps8294
There are many great pieces to choose from; but if there is one piece of music performed by one corps from one year, it's the 1985 Santa Clara Vanguard belting out Festive Overture. That piece of music brings back happy memories of the drum corps activity. Honorable mention, the intro music to the DCI telecast when it was on PBS. Not sure if it was actually Trittico or not (kind of sounds like it); but that piece of music let everyone know what was coming.

Tom D'Bomb
Malaguena.Deride it all you want, it's a chart that has been played by so many corps (and in so many different ways) that it's forever linked to drum corps in almost all eras. faramirtook
Nothing quite says drum corps to me than fast-paced, latin music. Pictures of Spain, Malaguena, Malaga, Bully, Echano, and the rumps. Of course as a Caballero I'm a bit biased, but I think Latin music just fits the drum corps ideal so well: entertaining, fast, exciting, loud, high, rhythmic, intense, hummable. soccerguy315
Malaguena was the one that immediately came to mind
skajerk
Besides "Malaguena"?"Appalachian Spring/Simple Gifts" Every single time I hear that melody I always think "Cadets 87...Cadets 87...George Zingale..." Appalachian Spring was the first song that came to mind for me but I think of 1982-83 SCV when I hear it.
