supersop
I think it was more the key the tune was written in than the range the men were able to accomplish. I did notice several spots in the show where they added some octave work later in the season ... and it sounded EXTREMELY GOOD!!!!!!!!! The guys were capable, but the arrangers and staff weren't entirely confident in the Winter when the show was written. For 2011, I would like a "Best Of Madison" show. Title: The 5 Burroughs Harlem Suite - Manhatten Remembrance - Staten Island Waltz of the Mushroom Hunters - Brooklyn Ballet in Brass - Queens A Mis Abuelos - The Bronx I still like this idea :) If I do say so myself. It might end up being a 20 minute show ... but who cares? Take the penalties :P
Legolaus
Lookee here peeps! I know some others here have posted that 1990 should be brought back and I wanted to voice my opinion. Honestly 1990 was not a stellar point in the Madison Scouts history, but I have often thought this show would have been much better with a different order of the same songs (ie. I can Cook Too, opener; Lemon Squeeze, middle; and Remembrance, closer). But I think I Can Cook Too would make a fantastic opener for 2011. The original source material that the Scouts used in 1990 from Patti Austin was very exciting and very Madison. 1990 Railmen from NE used this as an opener and it worked very well. Great arrangement and wonderful drill. I would like to see Madison use this as an opener and vindicate this great tune!

OICMR corps
I have mixed emotions. RWS is a fine arranger but I thought Prime was perfect for Madison.
bawker
Thread topic might need to be changed to "If You Were Robert W. Smith..." Changed. I dunno . . .I really didn't like a lot of the Glassmen stuff he did recently, but that's just me. Still, though, he definitely had some good charts (IMO) with Magic and Suncoast, so we'll see what happens.
