SCV 5. crown 6. boston 7. cavaliers 8. bluecoats 9. blue stars 10. madison 11. spirit 12. blue knights Nah..75th anniversary with fantastic repertoire i don't think so, Coats are to solid in talent to be so low, Crown kinda as well.
elmhurstmusiced
Nah..75th anniversary with fantastic repertoire i don't think so, Coats are to solid in talent to be so low, Crown kinda as well. Scouts also have Chad Duggan back on staff in a major role with the visual, so that will help BIG time. For those that don't know, he was guard caption head from 1994-1998, and responsible for much of the design of the shows overall in that time.
contraBand
Well since this is "just for fun," I'll bite 1. Phantom- because I'm biased, that's why 2. Crown- because I would rather see Phantom win, but Crown probably deserves a medal too 3. Bluecoats- bias, again 4. Blue Devils- because I know it's completely unreasonable to even consider placing them outside the top 4, and even this is pushing it 5. Cavaliers- just because 6. Cadets- because #4 is already taken 7. Vanguard- because #5 is already taken 8. Boston- though I wish I could place them higher, I don't suppose people would find it too reasonable... 9. Blue Knights- because in spite of the alien birds, I think they can do a little better 10. Madison- slightly biased towards BK over Madison, so that's why 11. Spirit- seems reasonable 12. Academy- it's feasible, right? 13. Crossmen- someone has to drop out, unfortunately... 14. Blue Stars- which means someone else has to drop even lower... 15. Troopers- from what I've heard, the new staff is excellent, so moving towards finals in the next year or two? I feel like 16-18 could just as easily be any combo of Oregon Crusaders, Glassmen, Colts, PC, etc... But I'm rather less informed about the quarterfinalist corps, so I shall mostly leave them alone. But hey, this is totally reasonable, is it not? ;-D Edited December 3, 2012 by contraBand
general_tsos_chicken2
Nah..75th anniversary with fantastic repertoire i don't think so, Coats are to solid in talent to be so low, Crown kinda as well. I don't think Bloo's new visual designer is going to help one bit.. madison had pretty week visual books the last few years, and their guard is inconsistent. I agree that they have solid talent, but so do the corps I predicted to place above them (boston may be the one corps that has less raw talent, however boston has a very under-rated design staff IMO). crown i was having trouble guessing, i can see them anywhere 2-5.
cixelsyd
You want us to believe the Crossmen's "product" :laughing:/> moved up over 2 and a half points in 5 days WITHOUT help? Can you point out any other corps that had this kind of improvement? I wonder if this is a hoax post. In the 2011 finals race, we had a much larger reversal of fortune in the same 5-day period. 8/7 Erie: Academy 84.1, Spirit 83.95 8/12 Semis: Spirit 86.55, Academy 82.65 That is 4.05 in five days. Cleveland1
For Shigs and tiggles. 1. SCV- why? because rennick's 3rd year, Shaw's second year, and they are overdue. 2. BD- because i want them to be in 2nd. :) 3. Crown- Brasswise they are still unthouched but visually they are just not quite there, as well as percussion. 4. Boston- Very young corps last year, good turnover, great design staff, powerful shows. Fun drum corps. I hope they are rewarded. 5. Phantom- Was last year a fluke? I don't know. but 5th isn't bad. 6. Cadets- will the judges buy into their show? 7. Bluecoats- Sorry bloo. 8. Cavies- well they have to go somewhere don't they? 9. Crossmen- another cool show on the horizon? upset special, i guess, as crossmen leap from 12th to 9th. 10. Madison Scouts- pleasing the crowd can get you fan points, but precision isn't their thing. 11. Blue Knights- I love their shows, on one level or another, but their execution has been off recently. Can they keep from slipping out of finals? I think so 12. Hm, who will it be..... Troopers. Lets go with the troopers. 13. Spirit- just missing finals. :( 14. Blue Stars- a good future ahead but this year won't work out. 15. Academy- just because 16. Colts- I would love for them to make finals. But i don't see it happening. 17. Glassmen- Sorry glassmen..... ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Not that i don't care about the rest, but i don't feel like ranking them....
N.E. Brigand
Nothing ventured, nothing gained: 1. Carolina Crown 2. Cadets 3. tie - Blue Devils / Phantom Regiment 5. Boston Crusaders 6. Santa Clara Vanguard 7. Cavaliers 8. Bluecoats 9. Crossmen 10. Blue Stars 11. Blue Knights 12. Madison Scouts 13. Academy 14. Spirit of Atlanta 15. Pacific Crest 16. Colts 17. Troopers 18. Oregon Crusaders 19. Glassmen 20. Mandarins 21. Jersey Surf 22. Cascades (23) 23. Pioneer (26) 1. Vanguard Cadets (22) 2. Spartans (25) 3. Blue Devils B (24) 4. Genesis (27) 5. Legends (29) 6. Gold (28) 7. Raiders (30) 8. Music City (31) 9. 7th Regiment (32) 10. Les Stentors (33) 11. Blue Saints (34) 12. Colt Cadets (35) Numbers in parentheses indicate prelims/semis when OC competes against WC. (Not knowing which OC corps will be at either OC or WC prelims, I'm leaving out City Sound, Impulse, Racine Scouts, Spirit of Newark/NJ, Thunder, and Velvet Knights. And Blue Devils C, of course. Any new OC corps debuting or old ones reviving?) I look forward to seeing the many ways in which my predictions go wrong!
