mingusmonk
True...but on the same platform, I would presume? I hope they don't wait until the last minute before the first "paid" stream...wouldn't want the site to crash from a rush of membership renewals... Assume nothing. Last year's free preview / dress rehearsal was (and still is) on Youtube, not DCI's platform. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSWTAuGZkfk

I want the whole thing to be on Youtube. Youtube has paid subscription channels - https://www.youtube.com/channels/paid_channels so it could work... Wouldn't it be great watching Live shows directly from your smart TV, Apple TV, Rohu etc.?
2muchcoffeeman
Assume nothing. Last year's free preview / dress rehearsal was (and still is) on Youtube, not DCI's platform. Direct from DCI's own website: "Those wishing to get an advance look at the all-new DCI Live! platform will have the opportunity to do so during a special free webcast on Monday, June 15."
flammaster
What time Monday? Late Afternoon (PST) I assume? I have a doctor appointment at 1:30 so I should be around in time.
2muchcoffeeman
From the DCI site: "Drum corps fans can get a complete look at the 2015 debuts of the Troopers and Madison Scouts, during a free webcast presented by Drum Corps International on Monday, June 15, at 7:30 p.m. ET." KVG_DC
Drat. I'll be out of town until Wednesday. Maybe the place I'm staying will have good enough intertubes and the platform will work on an iPad. Maybe not.
2muchcoffeeman
Well, DCI has been promising lots of whizbangery, streamiliciousness and Hi-Defishizzle, so we'd be interested to hear your report on trying to catch the show on a tablet via shaky wifi. N.E. Brigand
DCI appears to have upgraded their website, and it includes a video page. Just tried one of the "free videos". Major buffering issues, although the ad that played before it came through just fine.
N.E. Brigand
I hope the website as currently presented is not final. The show schedule, for instance, has undergone a significant downgrade from what they had before. (It's also pretty annoying to discover the following: I had recently emailed some friends, asking them to join me at one or another DCI event this summer, and I'd included links to the show schedules as given on DCI's website, e.g. this used to be the link to DCI's page for the Akron show. It now leads to a season-long schedule.) Edited June 11, 2015 by N.E. Brigand
gabe211
It appears they will be using NeuLion for all media delivery including the live events. Looks like this is an ad supported content delivery system. If the free video is any indication of the quality we will be getting, I am really really really concerned.
