Floating on the river in EVANSVILLE!

That's my guess so far too.

I'd be happy for a corps or two to break out of our expectations and do even better.

Yes, I would too. That's always fun. Sadly, I think surprises are more and more infrequent in today's DCI. You could say BAC is a surprise this year. In design and execution it's like two different corps between 2016 and 2017.

Naturally. It is just fun guessing. My guess is BD, Bluecoats and SCV will be the medalists, then we will see 4-6 being Crown, Cadets and Cavies. Boston and BK for 7-8, and Blue Stars, Madison, Crossmen and Regiment in a fight for 9-12. But, Mandarins could run someone's Friday night in August.

Agree with everything you said, especially Mandarins. They are coming for heads this summer. But lets not forget about Academy just yet. I know they have fun and cute show everyone has labeled, but that is still a dangerous corps with extremely talented performers out there in the desert.

Yeah, with Academy I just feel the show last year was so special and so well designed. It was interesting, fun, entertaining and like nothing we have ever seen before. I mean who wouldn't absolutely love performing that show, and I think the love the members must have had for that show took them farther than anyone, perhaps even they, thought. Sadly, I don't think any of those adjectives listed earlier can describe this years show for me. At least right now. We will see how it evolves over the course of the season, but I think it's really hard for any corps to follow up with something as special after a truly special year.

The best thing for the sport would be to recognize 2-5 or 2-6 are close enough to one another where super-skilled judging can identify who has the strongest night.  And it varies many nights so there is a reordering instead of slotted-in-advance of the performance and sameness of ranking disconnected from what happens on the field.  I am not convinced the judging is unbiased and objective enough.

I'm not sure just playing a bunch of random music without any connection or a tenuous connection will garner tip top scores.

I wish it would, though. As long as the whole satisfies, I don't need a theme.

I'll be posting photos from Lisle on Saturday through The DrumScorps app.  Including my first viewing of your beloved Boston Crusaders!  :inlove:

There's still room on Boston's band wagon.  The BOD purchased a bunch to get the newbies through the season.
