So would you like if you dreamed many years waiting to make it to a premier  corps with an iconic uniform and then you have to wear one of these costuforms  ?

Ok, maybe I would be bummed. But I didn't march where I marched for the uniform. I'm not happy with all the changes in DCI, but the new uniforms is one of them. To me, hornlines dancing and prancing around the field looked cheesy with helmets and other head wear. Bluecoats 2016 worked so well because the uniforms of the hornline were really conducive to visual movement.

So can I ask what was so bad about the colorguard having a different uniform  than the corps proper which conveys the theme ? why all of a sudden do we need the entire corps to convey the theme?

EASY answer...Because it is just that....the current TREND...

I have to admit -- and I'll deny it because I'm the mom who isn't supposed to comment or have an opinion -- that my son is slightly disappointed that he's not getting a real "uniform" and shako.  This is his first year in drum corps, after three years of auditioning.  Yes, he wants to march no matter what and will wear and like whatever the current uniform is, but yes, part of it was wanting a traditional uniform/shako.  There is a little bit of disappointment.  I'm repeating myself, aren't I?? Still, he's very happy with his show and his experience so far.  But, I "get" the dream that isn't quite going to happen.
