That's probably the strongest overall show and performance I've seen from anyone this summer. Even over Crown in my opinion. The level of playing, marching, the guard work, the effective prop use, the color, and the way they tied this all together is fantastic. I was not sure what to think of Lucy after the great 2019 show, but they have definitely constructed a show that feels new, fresh, and modern. The show feels mostly cerebral and elegant with some fantastic minimalistic writing in the brass and percussion book. But the ending is super fun and definitely pulls the crowd out of their seats. Those Bluecoats soloists were on point and well played once again...just as you would expect if you've seen them over the last decade. Interestingly, most of the corps this summer are doing throwback kinds of shows (which I am loving), but Bluecoats, Boston, and Spirit of Atlanta definitely have a more modern vibe to them. 10 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
