skajerk
Whichever year SCV hid the Bottle Dance until Finals (1979?) That was 1982
fsubone
That was 1982 Thank you. I thought it was one of the years in Montreal, but I wasn't quite sure. Either way, amazing impact, and the crowd went nuts. You can barely hear the horns on the recording over everyone screaming
Ellaparka
Star 1990. The opener, "Praise Ye". Loudest, most triumphant opener I've ever hear.

3rd Glasgow BB
Crown 2010 had a quite stupendous hit in their pre-show. Madison in 1988 when the brass spun round during the end of Malaguena. The 1st hit of the disintegrating company front from Garfield in 1987. Spirit 1984 had several. Regiment 1983/4 had several great hits during 1812. When the brass comes in after the freaky Gerry Noonan solo from 1980 north star.... still don't think he's gonna make that note.
glory
bd 96 first note was the first that came to mind The first note of 1996 BD. For me nothing else is close. Huge first note. And back in 96, there was a substantial consensus among veteran listeners that drum corps had never heard anything that loud before - not even the fabled licks of Spirit, Madison, Phantom, SCV, etc. Cadets 07 absolutely belongs in this discussion. I still give the edge to BD 96, but Cadets that year were wicked strong (how many f's is that?). Interesting that both those were angry-sounding hornlines. DrumManTx
The first one that always comes to mind is Crown 08 right after Candide. I was listening to that with my headphones on full blast not even knowing what was coming, I think I lost a little bit of hearing that day. Don't want to jump on the bandwagon or anything but some that come to mind immediately are: Santa Clara Vanguard 1989, the hit at the end of the masquerade (I think, correct me if I am wrong), that one always gives me goosebumps. Vanguard 92, Fiddler on the Roof (bottle dance). Self explanitory, also include any other time they did bottle dance. Star of Indiana 1993, there is one point in the middle of the show where everyone and everything is just playing as loud as possible, as well as The Medea at the end. Cavaliers 95, the first impact, as well as the lovely hit in Jupiter. Madison Scouts 96, first hit after the Trumpet soloist. Cadets 00, the first hit as well as when they hit that company front in the closer. Santa Clara Vanguard 00, Adagio for Strings. Self explanitory. Phantom Regiment 2003, the Canon hit in the closer. Overhyped, played, ect, but still awesome. Crown 07, opening hit. Cadets 07, every time they have an impact. Santa Clara Vanguard 09, Simple Gifts. Bluecoats 10, that opening hit. Bluecoats 11 ^. Crown 11, Bohemiam Rhapsody. Just to name a few, you know. :P
