Cadets 2015

Recommended Posts

GH announced on his FB that he has rethought, re-framed his thinking about rifles and weapons after seeing some WGI show.

He announced C1 aand C2 will return with rifle lines in 2015.

In truth, they are but pieces of wood and plastic. It's what the human does with them that matters most: drum corps chooses them to be methods toward art and beauty.

Very well stated and agreed. Cadets guard SHOULD rock this season with the amount of Vets returning. Edited by Tobias

I'm not really a guard person, but I am GLAD to see this. I like the sound when a bunch of rifles catch together.

It's true. Actually I didn't really like the show either until probably mid season. Just didn't seem "Cadets" to me...that is until I realized how much the crowd was going bonkers.

Hop mentioned the 2000 show on his USBands webinar thing earlier tonight. He said the beginning of the show was great, the end of the show was great, but the middle was "meh." That they kept working on it throughout the season and they did make it better, but nobody really remembers that part of the show as much as the beginning and end. I can see that. And honestly, as well as the end of the show was designed, they had some serious performance issues with it at finals (which I'm sure you're aware of). It was clear to me anyway that they left the door open for the Cavaliers to walk through. Which they did. (well, they stood in the doorway WITH the Cadets, not exactly walked through it. LOL)

It's one of my least favorite Cadets shows musically because I really can't stand that source music. Ever since I first heard it at Epcot (and then had to listen to it all day long!) it just got on my nerves from the get go. Great corps, absolutely. Didn't care for the show. C'est la vie.

I loved the ending. The fast pass throughs. I was hoping last season, they would have Jay rewrite a compilation of the show music and have Jeff write an ending like that. It would have sealed the silver and closed the gap a bit with BD BUT we got banners, and cheese wiz. And receiving the bronze for the first time all season, THE CADETS

I don't know if that would have even worked.

I truly thought it was one of poorest designs by The Cadets ever.

I honestly feel bad saying that because the performance level was incredible.

But you can't polish a turd. You can perform it well enough to get 3rd, but that's all.

We'll agree to disagree. Judges are very honed in on design. This turd was only beat by one corps all season until finals when an excellent Coats show edged them out of second. Maybe not your cup of tea, but design was hardly a turd. Edited by Tobias

I'd agree. I didn't like the stuff they added the last week or so with the banners, but other than that it was well done and really well performed
