Clutchtow
Crown and SCV have no shot to win it. SCV was out of contention weeks ago in my opinion. Crown hung in there, but they don't have an '08 Phantom type of show to make a huge jump late. Both corps have at least two areas on the sheets that leave them with around one point, or worse, deficit relative to the leaders every show. With SCV it's brass and color guard and for Crown its percussion and GE. Neither corps has enough in the other captions to mitigate that.So SCV's guard has topped BD's, and is only .6 behind first place at Houston... I wouldn't say it was their week link... Music analysis, maybe. But not guard. Edited July 18, 2015 by Clutchtow
jwillis35
Sheer odds make your statement likelier than not, but I wonder: were people saying basically the same thing about Phantom at this point in 2008? Actually, I felt Phantom was going to win the title with about 3 weeks left in the season that year. I know I wasn't the only one. For the most part, however, your point is very valid. Most on DCP probably thought BD had it in the bag. I just had this hunch with Phantom in 2008, and that was before the new ending. I felt it was fairly obvious that Phantom had a monster of a show that could take off and win Gold. I don't quite get that feeling with SCV or Carolina, but I definitely feel Bluecoats have a shot. Cadets and BD are certainly the odds on favorites. But Bloo is good enough to jump them IF (BIG IF) they get that show cleaned. The ending still needs better focus, but that's true for BD as well.
HockeyDad
DCI pointed that out last year when they clearly and specifically indicated they wanted the judge's sheets to generally reflect the corps' ability to connect with the crowd and the crowd's response to the show on the field. And no show this season is connecting with the crowd like Cadets. So.....I guess they're hitting the mark, right?
Cappybara
And no show this season is connecting with the crowd like Cadets. So.....I guess they're hitting the mark, right? Pretty sure Crown is still connecting to the crowd more than the Cadets are if "crowd cheers" are what we're using to quantify how connected the crowd is. xandandl
The last two posters enter a realm of editorials because the matter can not be quantitatively measured....particularly when viewed only over a telecast which is the selected editorialized view of the production company to begin with. I saw them both live. Oh, and also, what posts DON'T qualify as editorial? Only a few, like posting of scores, rehearsal locations and times, show schedule. Other than that everything here is the individual posters' opinions. So I don't know what your point was. Tobias
Pretty sure Crown is still connecting to the crowd more than the Cadets are if "crowd cheers" are what we're using to quantify how connected the crowd is.Crown consistently gets the greatest crowd response since the beginning of the season. Cadets are now starting to get very strong crowd responses as their performance levels have increased and of course, that new ending!

The majority of people didn't have phantom in the title hunt until Allentown really. I had them knocking at the medals until the ending went in, and I had them solidly in third with a possibility at a run at the silver over the Cavaliers. I was one of those that had BD winning it the entire season, and kept that belief all week long at championships. I still think BD should have won that year but Phantom pulled it off! I remember that season at Allentown. It was so cool when the drum major got impaled. Nobody was expecting it and the crowd gasped and then went nuts. I loved it. It was one of the greatest endings of a show I've seen.
