Sideways
Let's not discuss religion on DCP. That's the last thing we need. THE LASTI agree with that!
CDUB
You're missing the point. Bloo's ballad is not about singing, it's about layering harmonies and metrically phasing entrances of a melody. Verdi's Dies Irae is not about singing, it's about communicating fire and brimstone. Beethoven's Ode to Joy is such a simple melody that it is diminished without the full effect of the orchestra AND the choir BOTH in jubilant exultation. Not all arrangements from source material that includes singing needs to have singing, but Beethoven's Ninth does, in order to have the full effect. I'm not missing the point. If ode is to be jubilant with choir and orchestra, Dias is to be fire and brimstone with choir and orchestra. For as many times as Verdi includes that passage in the requiem I think it is pretty clear that the choir's role is quite intentional. None of this really matters, as it is drum corps, which is an activity that adapts the full effect to fit the confines of the activity. If you want the full effect you may want to check out the local symphony.
Sideways
Don't say things like "WE ALL KNOW" when you have no idea what WE ALL think or know. If this is what you believe, just state it that way. Say "I believe..." Don't speak for others and life will be much better. Clearly those who are Christians would disagree with you, whether you like it or not. Correction..."This I believe..." drummergirl
can we please stop it with the "cadets are tired" thing? Stupid If anyone is tired it's the Cavies- and for a good reason I agree. It isn't even The Cadet fans saying it.

CDUB
Why were the Cavies "exhibition".... Virus ravaging the corps. They have a ton of holes and were nowhere close to 100%. A valiant effort.
