xandandl
Eh I disagree. Tilt and Kinetic Noise were much more clear cut for me. This show seems a lot more abstract Then stop smoking that stuff.

This show seems a lot more abstract Aren't all of three of these shows meant to be abstract? Don't tell me the other two had a story that I completely missed....I've had that happen to me in drum corps shows before.

When I say they were less abstract, I meant that it was easier to pick up the show concept. It was a bit more prominent (in my opinion). Tilt had a gigantic tarp around the field, their sash was tilted, their horns down was tilted, the pitch bend indicated a tilt, etc. Kinetic noise was admittedly not as clear cut as Tilt UNLESS you watched it live. The soundscape of Kinetic Noise was incredible and that made the show theme a lot more prominent. I find down side up to be a bit less literal in that the idea behind this show is based off of a dance group. It isn't some literal concept like "tilting" and "moving sound." I'm not saying there's wrong with that at all though.

It was a plain as anything, so plain that I refuse to tell you what they were.
cowtown
Tilt had a story, it was a post-modern exploration of societal imbalances told through the perspective of a time travelling flea that had inhaled diesel fumes from a drum corps tour bus. The orange was an illusion to orange warning signs that created an overbearing narrative of caution yet it encouraged viewers to embrace the future, hence take the leap. I believe it was best described by Descartes in the quote ‘Cows channel three reason don’t matter thee’.

There are a few bands in Texas and Indiana looking to hire you based on these superlative skills. Michael Boo may finally have a rival. sadtrombonesound
Not sure if anyone listened to yesterday's Marching Roundtable podcast focusing on Bluecoats uniforms, but an interesting thing to listen to, whether you like the new look or not.
