BRASSO
You in Star of Indiana or whaaa brah? It would be cool if the Boston Crusaders followed the trajectory of the Star of Indiana ( but stayed in the game, instead of quitting DCI ) The analogy with Boston with Star of Indiana is complimentary and all, but honestly it does not fit. ( But its nice to see Boston now as todays " Star of Indiana" ", as it was not long ago. Crown was that day's version of the " Star of Indiana ") Star of Indiana was essentially built by one Man... a billionaire... 2nd richest Man in Indiana ( Bill Cook ). He had the luxury to go to his office draw, open up his personal checkbook, and write large checks to fund his Corps. Boston however had to RAISE money, by several means, by lots of volunteers working the phones, hitting the pavements, knocking on doors, doing community and corporate outreach, taking out loans, paying back those loans, investing monies into sound return investments, developing from scratch strategic business partnerships, courting venture capital sources, etc and a host of other creative means to raise the money to go from flat line finances, to strong, stable, vibrant financial resources. This has now allowed the Corps to go out and find staff that it is currently putting together. It is out to create the best possible environment for its future students. Star from day one had enormous financial resources. Boston has been thru bankruptcy periods in its 76 year history. It has no single source " cash cow " in bingo, for example. The Boston Crusaders had to do this the old fashioned way... they had to go out and creatively fundraise it via its own expenditures of copius amounts of sweat equity. xandandl
Touche ( lol!) Just so you know, the rumor goin' round here in retort to the naysayers, BAC for them stands for " Buy A Clue ". I didn't use Bringing A Checkbook.
Jeffe77
Unless the Cadets totally overhaul their drumming image (which is possible), Mapes & Grom write stuff that's way too hip for that line. Not a knock on Cadets percussion, just a difference in approaches. Good point. Here is a crazy thought. Rennick goes back to Crown, that opens the door for Mapes & Grom going to SCV. If that happens their talent factory from the middle school to Chino Hills HS to Pulse would go straight to SCV. Please keep in mind that this is pure unadulterated wreckless speculation. corps8294
I can see Mapes/Grom leaving Blue Stars and landing either with Crown or Cadets depending where the dominoes fall. That would be a huge blow to the Blue Stars as the percussion has been the corps strongest section for a number of years, now. To be honest; if those guys would leave, and that caption suffers, the corps would drop to the bottom, if not out, of the the top 12. corpsband
so exactly where is all this spending money coming from? that's been pretty vague. inspire is a non-profit and should embrace the sunshine right? did someone take out a big ### loan to finance all these acquisitions? because the souvie van sure didn't pay for it. i have an inkling about what some of these folks were making. and if they all got substantial raises, kazowie! that's a lot of greenbacks. never mind the future price of all that creative freedom and all those nights on tour at the hilton! Oh the horror that people that work in Education could get a raise in what they do by coming over to work their craft with the Boston Crusaders. Whats the world coming too. ( haha!)
