mj3004
please quit turning DCI into WGI. Spandex uniforms may actually turn some members off. The old style uniforms need to be more modern yes, but why do we all have to be dancers in the nutcracker than musicians on the field Outdated band uniforms may turn some members off. I hope more corps continue to evolve including the Cadets.
Tobias
Huh? Tight spandex? Is Adonis returning? All silliness aside, if Cadets did a very light form fitting cream colored lower body uniform with a top that has some of the striping stenciled on, shakos, plumes... from stadium seating and press box, the look is probably similar to traditional uniforms but allow for more fluidity to movement
rpbobcat
Don't know if anyone brought this up yet. One problem with spandex. it doesn't work well on all body types.
tesmusic
Don't know if anyone brought this up yet. One problem with spandex. it doesn't work well on all body types. I've always taken the stance that spandex are a privilege not a right. Me for example, it's not right for me to be in them in my current physique. Fish
Don't know if anyone brought this up yet. One problem with spandex. it doesn't work well on all body types. Then perhaps a move to Spanx would be better than Spandex.
xandandl
It'll be spandex. Confirmed from several vet members. Cadets are going Bloo. What vets? As DCP readers are well aware, many "official" and "semi-official" comments on what Cadets (will) wear over a season have proved to be either untrue or the speaker changed his mind. What does concern me is that "spandex" and similar type materials are as bad for the health of the performer as were the old wool materials many marchers wore for many years. No less than the Texas health instructions for colleges and schools, clinics in Round Rock and Cedar Park, an countless health professionals from Texas and elsewhere counsel against wearing spandex during strenuous exercise or aggravated warm temperatures (both which relate to DCI touring.) Here's one quote: "When working in a hot environment (outside), wear loose clothes to allow for better air circulation. Never wear spandex or other tight fitting clothes because they restrict circulation and impede movement of air over the skin." [i'll put citations at end of the post.] As DCI corps exercise and perform equivalent to US Olympic training according to that medical school study and video done with the Cavaliers, this might be a most apt pause and matter for discussion with the DCI Medical Committee, one whose son is a band director for Cedar Park. https://www.alamo.edu/uploadedFiles/.../C.2.1.6-Procedure.pdf The Alamo Colleges www1.utsa.edu/.../PTSAFETY%26UODSPRING2 University of Texas at San Antonio http://cedarparkfamilyer.com/staying-cool-when-exercising-outside/ http://cedarparkfamilyer.com/category/heatstroke/ http://getfitkpsf.com/health-wellness/healthy-hints-to-avoid-heat-related-illness/ Edited September 27, 2016 by xandandl
xandandl
I post this in honor of those Cadets who marched in 1984,1994, and 2009, in honor of the Sky-Ryders alumni, and all those who have played selections from WSS which so many of us have enjoyed. It debuted on Broadway on this week in 1957. May we always have a love, a love that can give, all the days of our life...Somewhere. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/musical-rumble-made-listeners-love-west-side-story/ Edited September 27, 2016 by xandandl

xandandl
I believe it goes back further than that with selections of WSS ( early 60s) which is why I further wrote "and all those who have played selections from WSS which so many of us have enjoyed."
