FTNK
OK peep game on this-- the opening drill with the big circular blob (before Simple Song) is going to have to be very clean to be readable (esp with dark skirts). Small intervals and speed. A lot of the drill seems unreadable, but well-placed blobs never hurt BD Competitively it comes down to execution, especially because I believe this show is qualitatively different from the majority of the top corps. It's one piece of music, arranged in a way to specifically respect the original composition. With the next 2 years under the same restrictions, Cadets could forge an identity of musical integrity, instead of mashing a million musical ideas into otherwise unrelated impact/GE moments. I just think they will have to perform their show that much better to overcome the constant flow of GE moments of shows like BD, Cavies, and Bluecoats, and carve out a place for (relative) subtly. I hope that makes sense, I'm tired Edited July 2, 2017 by FTNK

Fred Windish
Hey, George . . . . . I KNOW it's probably splitting hairs, but this photo illustrates an item that MIGHT improve the overall "look" and theme. The stained glass doesn't look enough like real stained glass. Would prefer a few sections per panel in bold colors that differ in tone. Plus, clearly defined leaded glass divisions between each colored panel. The current look can be made a more accurate impression of church windows. The above looks more like the light blue kitchen apron my grandmother used to wear! Thoughts?

It is way too detailed Forget the arch and the "window" look and instead blow up a single pane of stained glass to fit the 10' tall by 6' (?) wide panels - big and bold and distinctive. Way too small and hard to read. Not this but something more like it in terms of detail:
mfrontz
Does anyone other than me have a problem with the volume of the front ensemble? It was a major obstacle to me hearing the hornline in Pittsburgh. Much louder than any other corps including the electronic happy Bluecoats. Truly Interested in opinions. Not trying to hate Edited July 2, 2017 by mfrontz Spelling

Not trying to hate in a FB post Hopkins said this was an issue in Pittsburgh. Something about they screwed up the gate report times and they were rushed. They also seem to be "experimenting" with the mix and volumes - particularly the voice. When I saw them at rehearsal (day before that show) the mix was really good but then the video I saw from Pittsburgh was very heavy on the pit. I've also noticed now with the big speaker assemblage WHERE you sit can really be a factor. If you're low in the middle of the deck with it aiming right out you BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! But when I sit upper on the 50s it sounds perfectly fine (ie: near the judges) :(

Not this but something more like it in terms of detail: Didn't GH say these were temporary, that the company that produced them made a mistake and they were redoing them? Maybe the redone ones will look more like you imagine.
