The only way that happens is if you can eliminate it in the marching band and WGI arenas as well. All of the marching arts activities feed off each other, creatively and financially. It driven by business as well as creativity, and companies like Remo, Yamaha and others push their influence. It's the evolution of the activity to a place where many of us saw it moving years ago and it will never go back to what it once was. Those were good times. But there is no way to put the toothpaste back in the tube. This is what it is now...either we embrace or we don't. I don't mean this in a negative way. That's why we love it -- and that's why some of us did it. We're not going back to the 1980s; I'm not saying that. I don't care how weird BOA and WGI get but I like my drum corps pure. I did think Doc Brown's DeLorean DMC-12 souped up with his creative Flux Capacitor was just perfect in every way. I wish I was in that film so I could've taken a spin in it with ol Doc Brown back to " non amplified acoustic performances ". I also don't see the use of using synth to double the brass. It was just the brass players for so many years, why cover them up? To be fair to him, the only reason he's really defending vocals is because everyone else is so against it.
